Weekly updates 11/10

Does anyone's LO have a food that they don't like? Seth used to eat peaches but he doesn't like them anymore. So, peaches and green beans are definate dislikes.

Seth is on antibiotics, for the start of an ear infection, until Tues and it's so hard to get them in him. I have to lean him back in his highchair, squeeze a little into his mouth out of the syringe and blow in his face to get him to swallow. He still doesn't get it all.

So far Kolby still likes anything and everything we throw at him. I so hope he won't be a picky eater, but you never know. My brother ate everything when he was little and was the pickiest kid. Now he eats all kinds of stuff as an adult.

I hear ya on the meds. Kolby takes liquid zantac and that stuff is nasty!!! It comes peppermint flavored and he is not a fan of it. Who ever came up with peppermint flavor for a kids medicine should have to drink the awful stuff!! He takes it like a champ though, but the easiest way to give it to him is when he is asleep in the morning. I just stick the dropper in and squeeze. He squirms, swallows and is asleep the whole time....doesn't even wake up. Can't do that for the evening dose, but he will usually take it without much of a fuss (thankgoodness....otherwise the past 3 months would not have been fun!!). I bet he is almost done with it, right. Hang in there. How are you doing/feeling? Well I hope.

Where are all our other ladies.....way too quiet around here!!! Come out come out where ever you are!!

If he was on a smaller dose I would definately try to slip it in while he's sleeping, that sounds like a great idea. But he's on 4.5 mls per dose, which seems like an awful lot for a 9 month old.

The only thing I have found that Lilah doesnt like is peaches too--how funny. She absolutely loves anything green that is her favorite so to speak, or I should say that is what she devours the fastest and screams when she is done for more!

I picked up my MIL from airport Saturday and she will be with us for 1 month, I am so happy to have her here, we get along wonderfully and she is such a huge inspiration and blessing. She is deaf and is teaching me lots of sign language, I have know the basics but we are really working on conversations now, so I am very excited to learn more to teach Lilah along the way !

Joey will eat anything as long as it doesn't have big lumps. We tried to give him those treats that Gerber has that are suposed to melt in the baby's mouth - he gags everytime! If his oatmeal or rice has too many lumps he gags too! It's all about the texture to him. Dh was the same when he was younger. He said it lasted well into his teens with certain textures. I thought, "great!"

Quick post since I don't have my laptop at home right now (got a virus and the tech guys took it).

Having withdrawls without it!!!

Kolby is getting over a rotavirus! No fun, and lots of really bad diapers, but he seems to be on the mend. Had to switch to soy formula till he is better and he isn't to fond of it or pedialyte. Been hard getting fluids in him, but no signs of dehydration so that is great! Hope after the weekend he is all better! He has been a pretty happy boy most of the time so that is good!

Hope I get my computer back soon so I can get on whenever I want. Have a good weekend everyone!

What does Lyla like is more like it.....Not much. LOL! She actually is getting a little better. From 4-6 months I couldn't get Lyla to take anything other than Squash and her baby cereal. She would take sweet potatoes but it wasn't her favorite. Now she'll take some of the stage 2 mixtures that she wouldn't take separately which is interesting. She loves the harvest veggie DHA one. She wouldn't eat any fruit. Nothing....Now she'll take the pear strawberry granola mix. That's one of those DHA ones also. That's all the fruit she'll eat. Sometimes I can get her to take a spoon or two of some fruits but thats it.

But she is loving table food, which I wasn't going to start with her anytime soon, but evertime I would eat something she would try and grab it. So just this week I started giving her the smallest bits of food. Like literally a quarter of a cheerio, but she does great with them. No gagging or anything. She gums them right up. She's grabbing them with her hand. She doesn't quite have her pincer grip, but she is working on it, and sometimes she manages to get some of the cherrios in her mouth. So cute. She started vocalizing a lot more. She's been saying mama and dada for the last few weeks. When she wants more cheerios she says "mmmmmmm.....". It's so cute. She is shaking her head no. She does it randomly here and there, but mostly it's when she doesn't want any more baby food. It's the funnies thing.

Gift-HOpe Kolby is feeling better. STomach bugs are the worst.

Heather-hope you're doing okay. Hope Seth is all better too!

HOpe everyone and their loved ones are doing well....

I got my computer back finally so I have been trying to catch up on all my groups.

Kolby is doing wonderfully. He made a great turn a round starting the day after the Dr. visit and diet change. We are still doing the soy formula a little longer, can't hurt and we didn't want to aggrivate his tummy too soon. All systems back to normal now and we will for sure be able to recognize (smell!!!) the signs if we ever have to deal with it again. Thankfully we never had a fever or vomiting.....not sure how we escaped that one, but I am not complaining.

I was going through his clothes this past weekend to start giving some to a friend who is due in March 09 with a boy and couldn't believe how far he has come from his little preemie clothes. I got a great picture of him in a 6-9 mo sleeper with his exact preemie one right next to him. WOW how he has grown. I will post it as soon as I get it uploaded.

Let's see, latest things Kolby is doing......
Clapping when we say "yeah Kolby", he thinks he is something else that is for sure. He now says mama, dada, and Hi to everything and everyone. You can ask him where the dog is (or say her name) and he will turn and find our dog in the room. MIL says that today when she was feeding him lunch, the dogs walked by and he said "da" so I think it will be his next word. Loves feeding himself finger foods like mac n cheese, puffs, or cheese crumbles. Unlike some of our other kiddos here, still no teeth or no sign of them. He acts like they are coming fast and furious though when he gnaws on everything really hard.

Sounds like everyone elses little one are doing great. Can you believe how big they are getting!?!? Kolby will be 8 mo on the 23rd. Amazing!!!

Seth is 9 months! He's trying to pull himself up on things. He doesn't crawl forward yet but he can go backwards. He's also getting on all fours and rocking back and forth. Still no sign of any teeth.

We did 9 month pics at Sears yesterday and as usual had a sub par experience. The photographer used a piece of cardboard to fan air into Seth's face to get him to smile so his hair is all jacked up alot of his pictures. She didn't even try to make a funny noise or use a stuffed animal. The poses were kinda sucky too but we have a couple good ones.

For anyone who uses Sears..They have changed their policy on coupons and it su-uuuucks. You are allowed one free item/coupon/discount per visit. So if you are a smile saver and want to use it then you can't use anything else. We used to be able to use our smile saver, a coupon for a free 10x13 and get a 20% military discount. That gravy train has ended.

A couple recent pics of my sweet boy:
