2 mo appt & pic introduction!

I thought I should introduce Kolby with a few pictures since I have noticed that you all have shared pics already.

Kolby then (2 days old)

Kolby now (10 wks old)

So our first appt with our new ped went really well yesterday. We really like him, and he loves the babies. Kolby weighed 11 lbs 5 oz and was 23 in long. He has come a long way from his 5 lb 6 oz and 17 1/4 in and the Dr. said you would never know he was preemie by looking at him. Unfortunately we found out that his rash is Eczema and need to figure out what is causing it. We are thinking it is the detergent that I use for my (and Dh's) clothing which is tide (I like good smelling clothes) and the Dr said tide and gain are the worst so we are going to just wash all our clothing in the Free and clear that we use for Kolby and see if that helps. Good thing is all we need to do is keep lots of lotion on him so it doesn't get dry and itchy. That I can do! Hopefully we can find the culprit by eliminating the detergent. I want to see his nice soft clear skin again!! Everything else looked good and we go back July 31 for his 4 mo. Oh, the shots did suck and as soon as we held his upper body and the nurses grabbed his legs he knew nothing good could come from it. It seems his legs hurt last night, and he does have a low grade fever this a.m., but hopefully the Tylenol will help with that. All in all, he was amazing yesterday and he slept 9 hrs last night so it must have wore him out. I am starting to really like this sleeping longer thing!!

Kolby is adorable!!!

Sounds like the visit went well. Glad to hear he slept well for you. Joey decided that he didn't want to sleep until 3:30am! He usually doesn't do that, but every once in awhile he throws in a long nighter for me. LOL He's sleeping good today though.

Did you think the Eczema was baby acne? Joey looks like he has baby acne all over his face, but the pedi said it was dry sensitive skin?! I wonder if it is Eczema or what it is now... Pedi had me confused about it.

We did think it was baby acne in the beginning, but it kept getting worse and it spread over most of his body with his face and torso being the worst. His skin was so beautiful and clear for the first month and a half and then it started to get bad. I think acne starts shortly after birth. You can't always see redness on his chest, but you can always feel the tiny little bumps. His poor little face is the worst and is so rough without lotion now. I really hope it is just the detergent and it will start to clear up. I am doing laundry and washing everything that I use to use tide on in his detergent (all free and clear). I hope he grows out of the skin sensitivity!! Just keep an eye on it and if it seems to spread I would have them look at it again cuz it can get itchy. I think we have avoided that so far, it doesn't seem to bother him. The big clue for us was that areas that don't ever touch clothes, or don't often, are super clear (like his bum, and under his arms).
Better go, he is waking up from his nap.

Kolby is so cute! My DS, who is 2 1/2 actually just developed Eczema a few months ago...right before Lyla was born actually. The doctor suggested Cetaphyl (sp?). They have a wash and a lotion that we have been using. I had actually just started washing DS' clothes in regular detergent (Tide) before the rash developed. Before that we had been using the Dreft and then I moved to the Free and Clear for the first 2 years of his life. Anyway, I started washing all his clothes, sheets included, in the Dreft again with his sister's laundry and started using the cetaphyl and eveything cleared up. Try the cetaphyl....

Daviso, the baby acne usually shows up around 3 or 4 weeks. At least it did for William and for Lyla. And it usually clears up within a few weeks to a month. William had it mainly on his cheeks. Lyla had in on her face and upper chest and back. She had a lot. It is now all gone for thte last week or two.
