my pedi recommended meats at 9mths. He said that starting earlier could cause a propensity to develop allergies later down the line.

Kris, I have also read not to start meats until around 8-10 months -- can't recall the reasons but I imagine it has to do with allergies like Julie mentioned. However, after the day that Molly had yesterday getting those shots, I gave her some of that Gerber 2nd chicken noodle when we got home.
Also, I give her juice occasionally -- maybe once or twice a week. I give her the infant gerber 100% juice (white grape). You do not have to dilute the infant juice (other 100% juice you need to dilute 50% with water), but I usually dilute it a little so it doesn't taste too sweet to her. Usually I'll give her 3 oz total (so 2 oz. infant juice & 1 oz. of water). Just be sure to give 100% non-citrus --- preferably white grape or apple (both of which are easier on their tummies). I have read and have been told by the pedi that it is okay to offer juice everyday but no more than 4 oz. and it needs to be 100% juice. Hope this helps!

I have introduced both meats and juices. I started solids at 4 months so maybe that makes a difference. I have done chicken, little beef and will do turkey and vegies this week. I do juice but DS likes formula or water best. I think he does not like the juice when its too cold. I have luke warmed it before and he likes better.

We started meats this last week. She'll be 8 months in 2 days.
She LOVES the chicken and broccoli dinner.
We did prune juice and water for her constipation several months ago but we haven't done any lately. She really takes her water from her sippy cup very well and likes it, so I just haven't messed with the juices yet.
