    Molly's 6 month appt.

Miss Priss had her 6 month appointment late this afternoon. She was such a trooper -- even had an additional shot (the flu shot). She cried really hard this time but luckily not for long -- of course I had a "lollipop" (aka her bottle) waiting for her which calmed her really fast.

Overall, she had a good appointment. She weighed in at 15 pounds, 5 ounces; measured 26.5 inches in length; and her head measured 41.5 (they always say "inches", but surely her head circumference isn't bigger than her body length, LOL ) . Doctor said she felt a bump on her lower gum but didn't feel a tooth poking through, but thought it might be soon.

The only "bad" part of her appointment is that we've been referred to a pediatric opthamologist for her left eye -- she has what we call a lazy eye. My DH had a lazy eye (his left) and required surgery when he was little. And Molly's Pawpaw (my Dad) also has a lazy left eye, so between the two of them she was bound to inherit the gene. I just hope she doesn't have to have surgery. Please keep your fingers for my little princess!

Sounds like a great appt. I will be praying that the lazy eye resolves itself and no surgery is required.

my friend had that with her son. they ended up putting a patch-thingy over an eye to force the other one to "focus". It worked a little bit, but little guy has to wear baby glasses. It has been 6 months & it is MUCH better.
I hope whatever they do, its a quick fix!

I had to go back to look at her pics, I didn't realize she had a "lazy" eye! I think her eyes are beautiful - can't get over those long lashes!

    Thanks girls!

I can only imagine my little princess with a pirate patch. Maybe she'll start a fad, LOL. But I'd take that and glasses anyday over surgery. I'll let you know what the eye doc says. I'm hoping Molly will be like Jason (Holly's DS) who just went to the eye dr. for something similar and they said he was A-okay!

Julie, do you remember that picture of Molly with her Pawpaw that had you rolling -- the one where they're "comparing" their lazy eyes? It's in the pics with her big flower headbands. It's crazy how much she has in common with her Pawpaw -- baldness (though she's getting more hair now); their lazy left eyes; they both LOVE peas (he has to have Lesuer peas b/c they're "the best"); she sleeps on her side in the same position just like him; i think she's going to be a lefty like him; and don't get me started on their 24/7 smelly farts (TMI sorry!!) .

Awwww Lab, I hope that Molly's eye will turn out to be nothing just like Jason's!! The pediatric opthamologist we saw said that it is quite common to think a baby looks like he or she has a lazy eye when it is really just the facial features that make it look off-centered. I will keep good thoughts for Molly that there is nothing wrong!!!! Do you have an appt yet with the opthamologist? Please let us know how it goes!

Glad to hear everything else is good!

A friend of mine's son had a lazy eye as a baby. It self corrected in time. Fingers here are crossed for your little girl!

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the well wishes for my little girl. Her appt. to see the specialist has been scheduled for November. She will be 8 months. That just makes me sad even saying that -- EIGHT months -- WOW!!! Our babies are growing up so fast.

I'll be sure to update after Molly's appointment.
