DH had two SA done- 3 months apart. These are the results from both, though there seems to be some improvement, it still extremely low. There was sperm agglutination in both samples. He is seeing his doc next week, but we are looking for suggestion on being able to improve these numbers
1st SA
Count-11 million
Motility-35%
Total number of motile sperm- 5 million
Morphology- 1%(strict)
2nd SA
Count-18 million
Motility-26%
Total number of motile sperm- 9 million
Morphology- 2%(strict)
Results 1 to 10 of 14

I did not have success with trying to improve my DH's morph, but you could try a high-antioxidant diet, 30mg zinc per day, one of the blends of reproductive vitamins out on the market, or ask his doctor about Clomid.
Since your DH hasn't seen a urologist yet, there's a chance his problem will turn out to be hormonal or a varicocele, both of which have some options as solutions, so I'd wait til he sees the doc to jump to any conclusions about how to treat it.
Good luck!

My husband had horrible morphology - it was a varicocele - he had the repair and his numbers went to normal. So let us know how it goes after the appointment.

Thanks for replying. It helps so much to talk to ppl who have faced this. All the other hormone results are back, and everything else except TSH is normal. That was a bit high
I will let you know what his urologist says.

Yes, i got a feeling from RE that IVF is the route we will also end up going. but he referred us to the urologist because of the shock he must have seen on mine and DH's face. He told us to try a couple of months on clomid and then come back.
But does clomid work with MFI

I have no clue. They didn't suggest that with us. Just straight to ivf ICsi. We had 2% morph. No other issues.
Mention*****
did first cycle with two embryos and it failed. Next month did fet with three embryos and my twin boys that are 2.5 years areresult of that. Now all of a sudden I am pregnant naturally. Crazy 2% chance of ever comfortably and it worked when we weren't paying any attention.
Best of luck to you on your journey!!!

Clomid is known to improve count and motility. There are rare cases where it improves morphology, but why that is, is unclear, and it's not a thing that can be repeated enough in clinical trials to make it common to prescribe for morphology.
It's worth a shot though if ICSI is a financial burden and if the eggs are young.
Interestingly, the male factor board is shot through with stories of women getting pregnant naturally AFTER ICSI worked. Sometimes years later. I suspect there is a diet or lifestyle change that takes place after the birth of a child that has an impact on sperm morphology indirectly -- but no diet or lifestyle change I tried made any effect on DH's sperm, so try medicine first is my advice. Clomid if the uro thinks that sounds good, ICSI if not.

so this is how things are now- DH had the urologist appointment and they did see a varicocele. But it looks pretty small and according to the urologist, he is not sure that is the root cause of the sperm problems. He has recommended that we try some supplements for a couple of months and test again. As I said, all the hormonal tests came back normal, other than TSH for which DH is already on synthroid.
As for me, I am 29 right now. I had the some of infertility tests done. and the HSG showed that the shape of my uterus as weird(either bicornate or septate). my RE did a lap and hysteroscopy for further diagnosis and found that i have neither. It is just that i have an indent on top of my uterus. apparently it is a normal variation that some women have. During the lap he also verified that i don't have endo atleast. But my AMH is really low (.47 ) . All other tests FSH(4) and E2(55) are low. RE told me not to worry about AMH because all other factors look good and he doesnt believe in looking at AMH alone. But i have been freaking out since i saw the AMH number. I want to move on to IVF/ICSI straight away(my RE told me he wouldnt do an IUI/IVF with DH numbers), but DH wants some time to adjust to the idea.
We have agreed to move to IVF in august, if the number dont improve after the supplements regimen.
Sorry for a long long post, but i am really scared that august would be too late and as i said, i am freaking out!!

Given your age, August is probably not too late for IVF; but I would not spend a lot of time on IUI. You're so young that even if they can only get 2 or 3 eggs (or 5 or 6, whatever), they're likely to be at least 50% of them normal which is far better odds than any older woman with "better" AMH has (due to the age of her eggs).
I know it sounds scary to think of doing IVF with low AMH, but given your age you really do have a good prognosis. But don't hang around with the idea of supplements for too long as even with perfect sperm, your odds of a natural pregnancy go downhill as you age with a low AMH.
