almost 8 months after dh's Varicocele repair surgery and the SA results are back. Zero sperm present...how is this possible. He had sperm before the surgery and now he doesn't have any?? (he didn't have much less than 1 mil) but now he has none!!!! My dreams are going down the drain...
How is this possible???

Hang in there...
What does the urologist think? Is DH on supplements? Please take care of yourselves. I know how a varicocele ligation goes. This whole think ****ing sucks. May God bless you.

we have an appointment with the urologist on monday. DH doesn't drink or smoke and has been on vitamin supplements for 4 months. I wish they hadn't called us before the weekend. I wish they had waited to tell us during the appt on monday.

dont lose hope!~ Those things vary so much from sample to sample!! Also, you can still do IVF with zero sperm right? They aspirate it or something>? I do not know anything about it, but I KNOW i have read about people having success with it!! What did the urologist say>>?>

Dont lose hope, it may take time. Hubby had reversal and it took us more than year. Imagine he had two SAs with zero count and after some prescriptions it is now 16 mil. Only problem we have is to increase the motility.

lilpink, any news from the urologist?
My DH's urologist said it could take up to 9 months to recover from a varicocele removal. We were told we could not conceive naturally given his suboptimal sperm count, motility and morphology. I found out I was pregnant the same day DH's SA results came back. We opted to not do the surgery, and now 4 years later, his SA came back fine. Go figure. Varicocele is still there, but DH wear boxers now. |

he decided not to go to the appointment. I don't think he wants to hear anymore bad news. Maybe next month he will try anouther sample and go to see the urologist.
Thanks for thinking of me. |

lilpink, here are a few natural things my DH tried that worked. Boxers. For a while we were having intercourse once a week. We read that the body adjusts to the activity so if there is no ejaculation for over a week, the body reduces the production of sperms. So ejaculation every 5-7 days was optimal before trying to conceive or before SA. No ejaculation for 3 days prior to SA or timed intercourse when TTC. Good luck. I also constantly tried to cheer my DH about it as I am sure you do too. Men take sperm count seriously as if it defines them. I constantly had to remind my husband that his sperm count did not define him, that it was a medical condition, and that it only takes ONE good sperm. My thoughts are with you and your husband during this trial.
On my own front, I want DH to return to his urologist for another SA. I just don't trust my RE's results and assessment. We've been TTC for 2 years now and have had 2 IUI's. His sperm count was on the low end at the last IUI, and I am not confident that IUI is the way to continue if the sperm count and motility is not optimal. He knows that we may have the option of IVF w/ ICIS/ TESE. But, he doesn't want to pay all the money for that proceedure. Especially with no guarentees. He doesn't even want to start the process of foster/adopt again because we were already upset with the last agency we were with.
