Moderate to Severe Male Factor

The RE told us that DH needs to see a urologist as his semen analysis shows severe decreased motility which is not good. We were terribly disappointed and upset with the local OBGYN office here for telling us that it was normal.

The RE was great and very informative. He says that there is proof that we can get preggo so that is wonderful news. He says there is always a chance. So now, DH will go through the procedures to see a urologist and after that happens, we will move onto IVF.

DH is so down about this. He is even more disgusted of all that I have been through and we finally discover that he is a big part of the infertility problem as well. We have always been super supportive of each other and I continue to make him feel great about himself despite the fact that I know he isn't well emotionally. Men don't let these things out like women do.

Any advice of words of wisdom would be great. Thanks for listening.

Don't get too down. There are lots of supplements and antioxidants that he can take that will increase motility. I know it is devastating for the guy to find out he has an issue. Give him time to adjust. Continue to listen to him. And don't give up!!!

Our doctor suggested Fertile One. Just do a google search for this and it will take you to coast repreductive.... they make it.

I've also heard recommendations for Proxeed, Fertile Aid, and fertiltiy blend. I think they are all pretty similar. Your urologist may have a suggeston too. YOu can ask him about clomid for your husband and well. I'm not sure if that can help motility though.

Another question.... how many semen analysis has he had done? They can vary a lot. My husband's worse had only 2 million and his best had 20 million (per ml). I'm sure motility can vary too. Also, the amount of days abstinence can greatly affect motility. Ask the urologist but I would suggest every 2 to 4 days. Don't go longer than that or it will hurt the sperm and their motility!

He has only had one and our location is in the middle of nowhere. The RE we saw says he would like to get a better facility to do the test since all we have here is a small hospital. He will be doing another one next month and seeing the urologist.

Thanks for the info

Hi Taylohalo, our embryologist suggest that my husband take selenium and zinc supplements. We bought these at wal-mat. After a couples months, his count did slight improve. Hope this helps.

Here's a good break down of what to try.

Remember that what ever he starts taking will not show results for 3 months. I know that sounds like a long time but there are other test that you should be getting done that will cause you to miss a cycle here and there. The next thing you know it's been 3 months. One thing I like doing is buying my Vitamins in 3 months supplies with each month in it's own bottle, this way I have a gage on how long I have been taking something.
