My dh's count is within normal range but his testosterone was low so I guess the answer is yes. A man can have a normal count but low testosterone. With my dh his morphology is low and his progression is slow so I think that it's from the low testosterone but not sure b/c urologists just say there's nothing they can do. Ugh!

I just want to share, my husband had a vasectomy reversal two years ago. He had two Semen Analysis after the surgery and always getting zero. My doctor told me that we can only go IVF/ICSI. Early this year, I convinced my husband to go back to his urologist. They check his blood and found some abnormality. Low testosterone and abnormal estradiol. The doctor said it might be the reason why there is no count. The doctor prescribed Arimidex. Quite expensive but if will helped him why not. Hubby took it for a couple of months and stopped. He went to have his SA two weeks ago. I was not even expecting anything but we were all shocked, from zero, his count now is 16 mil. Imagine that! So amazed. I changed my OB/Gyn and now my doctor said we can do IUI. I am scheduled this month and hopefully will get positive results.

I would always suggest vitamins to both the husband and wife if they are TTC as miracles do happen.

Seeking answers
Am new to the site so let me introduce myself. I am 34 years old and just completed my second IVF cycle. the primary cause of the failures is male infertility. In fact Dr.s have not been able to find any reason why I cannot conceive. My husband has low motility and low low count. First IVF there was no fertilization so we did not make it to the transfer. Second time I was so convinced Iwas pregnant only to fail. This time however Doctors did that procedure where they local the husband and take the sperm rather than bring in a sample. Low and behold there were 4 eggs that fertilized. 2 were put back Later I learned the other 2 discontinued their growth and were discarded. So there was no luck and we are heartbroken. I am wondering if my husband were to use meds if the issues would improve enough where we could get pregnant on our own..... Any thoughts............

I would suggest getting you DH to an Urologists ASAP to get him checked out as there could be other things going on that are affecting his counts. As for meds to help sperm counts alone, there are none. If he has low testosterone start by fixing that with an anti-estrogen, i.e. clomid, and see what happens to the counts in 3 months. Remember once you start something it takes 82 days for a new sperm to be effected.

Thanks
Great advice, thanks, the only thing is when we first realized there was a problem ions ago, we went to a urologist and they insisted nothing was wrong, a couple years ago my husband had a kidney infection and wound up in the hospital for 4 days and they said he had a narrow urethra could this be hindering the sperm since the urine travels in the same pathway.? Thanks C-Mag

Well I'm all about second opinions. In most cases I have been happy with every second opinion I have gotten. I know that they can be stressful and most of the time it will require more testing. Would it be worth having your DH go up to Cornell. It's $500 and they don't take insurance but they can give you a direction on what could help it would be worth it.
