Introducing myself - just diagnosed with MFI
Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this forum with other people who are going through the same thing. We have been trying for a baby for a year and went in for testing last week. My test results returned normal and my husband's SA revealed very low count and no motility.
volume 10.0 sperm count 9,000 motility 0% The number was too low to measure morphology. We are waiting to see the urologist and we hope this is due to a varicocele or something else that can be fixed. He also has to do another sample to confirm the results. I don't know why his volume was so high (we were told that it's usually no more than about 5.0 in a normal sample). We are trying out vitamins right now to see if that helps - I found this website that has lots of studies about the effectiveness of different vitamins and we are going to try the vitamins based off those studies. I am 26 and he is 28 so at least we have some time to try different things without feeling pressured. When I first found out, I was shocked and I cried for the rest of the day. After that, I have been researching everything I can find and I just can't stop! I have to remind myself to step back and keep my own self healthy because me being stressed and worried is not going to help matters at all.

Hi Lee na,
I'm also a newbie to this site (me 28 DH 29) I'm dealing with MFI also. Here's my story...DH had a SA back in 2005 which was low but don't remember the count so after doing some research he started taking Semenax along with Vit C, E, zinc, CO Q10, Selenium, flax seed oil and a Multi, after 3mos his SA was normal (which he never got) and we conceived naturally the next month. Now we are ttc #2 and we just found out he has high levels of FSH (9.6 I don't think it's that high) which can mean testicular development failure (in puberty the testis didn't develop completely) His count was 7.5mil and 1.3postwash of healthy sperm so we tried IUI last month but had a low chance due to the count. Knowing what we know now we are planning to do IVF we were told with high FSH the problem can worsen so we need to freeze some sperm for years down the road when we want more bubbies! From what I know Docs usually will recommend IVF and ICSI with extreme low counts. Dh actually has an appt with the Urologist this morning. Here's the positive side... I'm healthy (which I thank God 4 everyday) with IVF they only need a few sperm, It could be alot worse! That always makes me feel better when I tell myself those words (try it) the best advise I can give u 'try not to get stressed' I know it's hard but prey and Miracles do happen (my daughter is proof) 3 1/2yrsttc #2

Welcome to the boards Lee Na!
I hope you are able to have a baby soon. Our story is that we've been trying to have another baby since our son was bron. This April, 2 months after our son turned 4, we started seeking medical help. DH has some medical issues that we didn't know lead to infertility (adult onset diabetes & high blood pressure). At this point, we're not too sure exactly what is the cause of our challenges, but DH wasn't ejaculating and now he is, but the volume is very low about 1/3 normal. Once I multiplied the numbers, he had about 2 mill motile which means our best chance is IVF with ICSI, which we are saving for. We plan to cycle this Fall. In the meantime, he's eating better, has lost a few lbs and takes vitamins sometimes .

Hi! I just completed an IVF round due to MF...low count and really bad morphology/...after going through it all..i feel like MF is a "good" problem to have!! So many various things an be wrong with us....identifying it as a specific male problem seems to have just a few options and a definite plan!

Well my dh had his first appointment with the urologist and all the test results came back normal. His hormone levels are normal and the bloodwork they did to check for diabetes and things like that came back normal. The doctor said from outward appearances it doesn't look like he has a varicocele. He is doing another analysis this week to see what the numbers look like the second time around. I have him taking all kinds of stuff - vitamin C, B-complex, B-12, L-Lysine, L-Argenine, L-Carnitine, maca, selenium, zinc, pine bark extract, and a multi. I will add the other ones you said, kikiq76 - CO Q10, flax seed oil, and E.

I like the vitamin blend that you have him on. It looks like you covered most everything. Have you thought about acupuncture?

We might try acupuncture sometime in the future. We wouldn't rule it out. My husband had an ultrasound and they did find a varicocele this time. He is having surgery next week. He stopped taking the vitamins until the surgery is over with and then he'll start again on the vitamins. He did have a second analysis done a month or so after the first one and the numbers increased to 2 million but the motility was still zero. Hopefully the surgery is the ticket... Wish us luck!
