Looking for IVF success stories with severe male factor
I am considering not doing another IUI and going on to IVF. I have only done one IUI but the counts for the sperm analysis were 1.7 million and 0% morphology ( Kruger). My RE said I have about a 5% success rate with IUI this way...so I considering not doing another IUI and doing IVF with ICSI. I just wondered if I could get some success stories to give me courage

Oh Tense, I feel your pain! My DH has 2% Kruger, and they wouldn't even guess at our chances for IUI. They told us if he had less than 5 million TMC, our chances would be less than 20%. Well, each of the 6 times we tried it, he had less than 5 mil TMC!
It was a really difficult decision, but we decided to move on to IVF. As long as they can find ONE normal sperm for each of your eggs, that is enough for ICSI. We have just begun our first IVF, so I don't have a success story yet, but I am very hopeful. They told me at the clinic that IVF with ICSI would yeild us the same success rates as other women under 35- 66% at their clinic- if we transfer 2. Good luck with this tough decision. |

Well, I don't mean to discourage you from IUI. We did 6, and I actually got preg on the 3rd with 3.2 mil TMC and the same Kruger. For completely unexplained reasons- and believe me we have asked every question- I miscarried at 6 weeks. So the short version is, it's not impossible, and if it makes you feel better to do more IUIs, then go with your gut. They had the IVF discussion with us right before the pregnancy. However, after the m/c and 3 more IUIs, I couln't handle the disappointment and went for what gives us the best chance.
Good luck with your decision! |

tense, I am in the process right now. We were all set to do IVF first before IUI's because Dh's count is below 1mil but he just had surgery in January and we are hopeful that the counts will improve to levels that we can do IUI's with. We are hoping the SA in june will show us an improvement. I will take any improvement. From June we will decide what to do.
I really just wanted to wish you the best of luck just remember it only takes 1 |

Success Story
Yes, I have a success story. After 2 failed IUI's and Morph always around 2-3%, and then moving on to IVF, I am happy to say it worked. The first IVF plus ICSI was a BFN, but the second one worked and now am 8 mos pregnant. I personally wouldn't waste anymore time, money and emotional grief on IUI's. Can you tell I'm biased??

Thanks Dee Bee...we have decided to move on and will begin at the beginning of May....was the round you were successful with ICSI? And how long did you have to wait to do the second try? ( I am thinking ahead
