Sperm Wash - 31 to 4 Million!!
Hi - I had my first IUI done today and am a bit concerned about the post-wash sperm results. DH's pre-wash was 31 million, but post wash as 4 million! Is that normal or did the lab do something wrong? I was told to bring the sample in a 9 am, yet my IUI wasn't scheduled until 11 am. They didn't do the actual wash until 9:45 am. Is this in line w/ everyone else's experiences?

Hey Fer- I have spoken with you on other threads...My Dh went from almost 7 million to 1.7 million... Since it was so low to begin with, I was just thankful there was some left. That was very similar to my time frame as well...in at 9...picked up at 11...was processed at 10 something...

Hmmmm........I'm wondering if it has something to do w/ the timeframe, then. I'm glad that we're not alone! And don't worry too much. I've read stories where girls have gotten BFPs with under 1 million post-wash!! It Only Takes One!!!

My dh also had counts that were just normal or slightly above normal and we never ended up with a post wash over 7 million. We ended up going to IVF and found out we also had some morphology issues. good luck.

Fer-
What type of wash is this? There are a couple of different types out there? I'm not sure what type your doctor uses, but this is something you could talk to him about. I would say that you should have had more than that post wash. In my experience (via 5 iui's), our post wash is usually 1/2 of the prewash. |

Thanks so much. Yeah, my research led me to believe that I should have had about 1/2, as well. I'm scheduled a "debriefing" meeting w/ my RE the day after my Beta and I will ask him about the specifics of the sperm wash.
