Question MF Confusion??? Please help!

Okay, so my husband and I are in our first cycle of injectibles with IUI and mid cycle, my RE office called and said that my husband's SA doesn't look too good.
Here are the numbers...
Count: 20.5 million
Motility: 45% (3 hours later, 30%)
Morphology: 25% normal forms (WHO method)

When they called, they suggested that we try to switch mid cycle to IVF with ICSI because it was "so bad." This is not financially possible for us. We have no insurance coverage, so we both working extra shifts just to pay for the inj and IUI! I've spent more time than I care to admit online looking into these numbers and from what I am getting, they are not that bad (considering that we are already planning an IUI). Most sources that I have found say that 50% is best, but 25% can be worked with and an ICSI is not the only solution. I hate the idea that we may just be wasting time and money this month if we have no chance of having a successful IUI with these numbers. I'm curious what numbers other REs are willing to work with? Has anyone gotten similar results and been told that this is workable with an IUI or have you been told that an ICSI is the only acceptable option?

I have made an appointment with a urologist for him and we have just continued on the path we were already on for the time being.... We actually will be having our first IUI tomorrow (didn't want to scrap this cycle since I have 1 follicle for the first time ever that we know of)!

Wow I'd think your numbers are excellent compared to ours.

Count: 5 million

Motility: 20%

Morphology: 0%

We were told we had to do ICSi. We re-fied our house got 16 grand out paid for it & saved the rest. We are now pregnant w/ twins. Hope this helps. I would get a second opinion.

Those numbers sound perfectly fine for a IUI to me...My DH has a count of less than 1mil...our only option is IVF w/iCSI...I think you should go ahead with the IUI...is you only problem MF or are the other issues?

Wow, there is quite a difference in our numbers! Congrats on twins!
We live in California, so with the housing market crash here, we have no equity left in our house, so doing a re-fi is not even an option for us! We really don't want to have to do an ICSI if there is a good chance that something else will work. I've just heard so many conflicting numbers that my head is spinning!

Has anyone had a successful IUI with numbers equal to or lower than these?

I don't ovulate on my own, which is an easy fix! Other than that, we are young (me 27, dh 28) and healthy....No other problems have been found!

I am going to go ahead with my first IUI today!

I think that is a good Idea. If my DH's numbers we at least 5 mil we would have tried IUI's...I am wishing you the best of luck....hoping this works for you...

Thanks! I did my first IUI today. They said that the sample that I dropped off this morning was GREAT! There wre 65million at 51% motility (out of the 5 SA he has had done, this was by far the best number and highest motility). After washing, there were 22 million at 95%. They will do an IUI with a minimum of 5 million, so they said that today we were in really good shape! I guess they don't really look at the morphology when you do the wash, but that was their initial concern, so I am not sure why they wouldn't at least take a look?!

Now for the dreaded 2ww...
