Urologists in the DFW area?
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost 4 years now. We did the one year of natural, timed trying and when nothing happened, we started our fertility work up. Naturally they started with me; all my hormone levels were excellent, HSG normal, fluid ultrasound normal. No female problems.
So my husband did his semen analysis to find that we have a male factor infertility issue. His morphology was 1% on 2 separate SAs. He was also diagnosed with bilateral varicoceles. The original urologist we saw told us IUI would be the best thing for us, so we invested the $1,000 and did a clomid IUI with my ob. No success. Then we started seeing some reproductive endocrinologists (3). All 3 told us that IUI is not successful for low morphology and that we'd need IVF. We were also told by all 3 REs and the urologist that varicocele correction for morphology alone is not generally successful. The REs, especially, stress this and say that IVF with ICSI is really the only option for us. However, the more I read about varicocele correction, the more success stories I come across, and we're starting to think that even if it doesn't necessarily help, it can't hurt. And if it does help, it will certainly be cheaper than the $10,000 IVF with ICSI. Now we just need to find someone who is competent to evaluate us and perform the surgery. We did not care for the original urologist we saw, so we're looking for another. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good male infertility urologist in the DFW area?

I love Ash and Graves in Grapevine. The best part is that Dr Graves had troubles conceiving with his wife and successfully did IVF and had 2 children that way..a boy and a girl. So he really understands. Ash is great too.

I had bilaterial varicoceles repaired december of last year. My dw is pg naturally. Before the odds of pg was less then 1%. My count and all parameters increased 300%. It is definatly worth while. Just make sure to research which surigical version of the repair you want to use. I went for the micro-surgical from what my urologist said and the reseach its one of the methods with highest success rate.
Check out the following links. 1. Micro-surigcal approach compared to other. http://www.maleinfertility.org/new-varicocele.html 2. DNA fragentation in the sperm linked to varicocele. http://www.malereproduction.com/sper...structure.html The link 2 may give insight as to why the pocedures have not bee working. If there is high fragmentation due to the varicoele it can cause even ivf / icsi to be unsuccessful. I would highly recommend the surgery it will be cheaper overall in the long run. |
