anyone heard of semenax?

I think that is the name of it....
Anyway, I am asking because I was doing some reading on it and the website says that it will increase the number of sperm. I wanted to know if anyone here had heard of it or tried it before I ordered any.

DH had an SA about 2 years ago and the numbers were a little low. He hasnt had one since then and we are doing IVF in Jan and we want to do all that we can to increase our chances.

thanks!

I used the Male Fertility blend from theralogix which my urologist perscribed. It seemed to have helped. http://www.theralogix.com/fertility.shtml

Hi Bel! Are you doing IVF with ICSI? My DH and I also have the male factor issue and we just finished our first IVF cycle this month. The good news is that a "low" sperm count usually still means there's enough sperm to impregnate a good sized state. And if you do ICSI, you'll have a 80-100% fertilization rate so you won't need that many. BEST OF LUCK with your IVF cycle!!!! (p.s. it worked for us!)

It still makes a difference even if you do ivf with icsi. The lower the count and bad parameters the higher the risk of dna fragmentation in the sperm. It does help to do what you can to work on the male factor.

My DH also is using theralogix for 2 years....initially his numbers went up...but now they have plummeted...even still taking it.

I say don't waste your money....and do ICSI.....
We've done 3 ICSI...and have had BFN and 2 chemicals....

You have to make sure you're at a good lab that can pick the best sperm.

Good Luck.

Check out mk37994's link. What that article actually says is that sperm DNA fragmentation does not have a correlation to the parameters tested in a sperm analysis. If the sperm count is "a little low," your DH is still producing several million sperm in a sample. Even if 60% show high fragmentation, that still leaves plenty of good quality sperm for ICSI. My DH has severe male factor and I am now expecting after our first IVF/ICSI cycle.

to what karystos is saying the fragmentation level may have played a factor. People think icsi is just an easy answer the odds if there are really bad mf issues drops. Most re's will not say it they push it like it can overcome anything. My wife was 24 we did ivf with icsi got 10 day 5 blasts all grade high grade. Only on the first fet did stick but m/c. We spent a ton of money if the male factor can be addressed its best to deal with it. Im sure there is giong to be an exception who gets lucky to find the good sperm, but the odds are not great depending on what is happening. Typcally they test only the top x amont of sperm / looks good in the SA in the scsa test if those are coming up fragmented the odds are not the greatest.

I happened to speak with the embryologist who said it may have been fragmentation that causes the failures and m/c.

I dont want to be the downer but its something that under the supervision of a male infertility uorologist can help address to boost the odds. Why spend a ton of money if it can be addressed.

I had varicocele surgery after the ivf failures i was to nerveous to go for it before. My numbers are normalizing including the fragmentation levles. Odds are if we did ivf again we would have success.
