I'm a moron on male factor - pls help
Okay,
TTC 7 years... mild PCOS and now on Metformin. I know there are other issues besides count and motility... hubby is fine on both. What are other possibilities... antisperm antibodies, I read something about fructose being absent or something? The reason I wonder is this... Sorry Gross, but after 7 years who cares about gross right? Morning after BDing... we get a fishy smell which I believe is the sperm dying... because.... sorry again, when we discarded a condom once... next day, same smell. I wonder if they have a short life span? Like maybe there is something missing in his semen to keep them alive? When he was born he had a botched circumcision. We did not know this until last year! MIL never thought it was important info! Is there something that could have been damaged then? Please help, I haven't really learned much on male factor. Chelsea

I really don't have an answer for you, but wanted to mention a great book called "Overcoming male factor infertility"--it is available at most large bookstores. Perhaps that book will have an answer for you.
good luck!

You want to get his critical morphology checked. It is the shape of the sperm. My dh's first SA (semen analysis) came back fine, but then he had a more extensive test by our RE and they found that his critical morph was 3% which is severe male factor. We were told b/c of this we had a 5% chance of getting p/g on our own. There are different opionions on how significant morp is but you may want to check it out-good luck!
