Glad to hear your HCG is back to normal. It's frustrating having to wait. That's what I am doing now, waiting for AF and then another month of "rest". Meanwhile, every month that goes by I am afraid I am losing more and more of whatever quality eggs I have left.
Thanks for the encouragement about your 46-year-old friend who just had a baby. That's awesome! I hope acupuncture will work for me as well. I am anxious to get started.
Let me know how things work out for you...don't rush it if you don't feel ready, but don't be afraid to try again if that feels right. I wish you the best!

When my friend became pregnant after acupuncture at age 47 she did begin spotting which became bleeding at about five weeks. The doctors told her to wait and see because there was nothing they could do. She went back to her acupunturist, Katherine Leavy, who gave her an herbal mixture. My friend drank it for several days and the bleeding stopped. The baby had a heartbeat and all seemed well so she stopped the drink because it tasted horrible. Her bleeding soon started again so she began the drink and it ceased! After that she kept taking it by drinking small amounts throughout the day and washing it down with orange juice. Her "baby" is now seven years old and wonderful. I'm hoping to get an appointment with her acupuncturist here in Gainesville, but I feel conflicted because my obgyn does not believe in herbs since they are not fda approved. He didn't even want me to take St. Johns Wort which I took for the slight depression I was feeling after several miscarriages. I'm taking it anyway because it really works!

Yes, I know what you mean! I am kind of a by-the-book type of person. I feel a little sheepish going the Chinese Herbal Medicine/acupuncture route. But, I figure with my age and after two miscarriages, it's worth a try! Plus, I need someone who will support my efforts and my journey, regardless of how it might turn out. I am not getting that with my doctor, so acupuncture and a new OB are really my only options. If your current OB is not supportive of your choice to try CHM, and you feel strongly enough about it, maybe you need to find a new one too. (I really empathize with where your OB is coming from, but I also feel that when Western medical options have been tried--and failed--then it's time for a change of approach.
My first appointment is Sept. 23 (wish it could be sooner, but I am out of town until the 18th and that was the first appointment I could get). I'll let you know how it turns out.

Unfortunately some docs have a hard time with anything outside the box. I ran into that when I was doing immune tx. In the end, I felt that I needed to be able to look back and know I did everything I could. I didn't want to beat myself up and have regrets in a few yrs when I couldn't go back into tx (I was in my late 30s early 40s). The doctor would forget about me but I would always have to live with my choice.

Dhea?
Has anyone here read about DHEA supplements for older women to improve egg quality? I just read an interesting study from 2007 that indicates dramatically increased pregnancy rates as well as lower miscarriage rates because of improved egg quality resulting in less chromosome problems in embryos. I'm thinking about ordering some from Amazon right now. Am I obsessed or just perserverent?

I have heard of DHEA. I was thinking about taking it too, but when I read the label it said not to take if your pregnant. That made me a little nervous so I decided to hold off until I hear what the acupuncturist (and my new OB) says. Also, the articles that I read for DHEA seemed to indicate that it helped women who were also doing IVF, and I'm not.
