    I have so many questions...

You can only read so much, so maybe this will work better... I will complete my first IUI cycle in the next few days. I'm about 95% positive that it will be BFN, but I've read stories that give me that 5% hope. Anyway, I'm planning for the next one, and have some questions about how to increase my chances of success. Don't want to spend my entire savings guinae pigging. I bought 3 vials of donor sperm, and used one this time. I have PCOS and IR, but I'm only 30, and aside from some hormonal imabalances, things seem good. I seem to ovulate on my own, just later than normal. They used lowest dose clomid to try to increase my chances, but i still only got 1 lonely follie. They triggered, but didn't do US to see if trigger worked before doing the IUI. I use prog supp nightly since 3dp and started spotting and feeling PMSy at 7dp (usually in the morning). I did hpt this morning (12 dp) and got BFN.

My questions if beta is BFN:
    1) clomid obviously didn't work... should ask to switch to something else, or keep trying to up the clomid doses? can I ask to up dose faster than the traditional 50 mg per cycle?
    2) what if trigger didn't work? how would I know?
    3) How many IUI should I try before deciding it won't work?
    4) How the heck do I calm down in the 2ww, I'm kind of a wreck? How do you do this month after month?
    5) Not everyone knows I'm ttc, any ideas on refraining from no no activities without letting on? I think the first time I refuse a glass of wine at a dinner party people are going to stop and stare. So far I've been avoiding those places, but I'm getting kinda lonely.

    Hello!

Generally the doctors try 4-6 cycles of tx before moving on. Now having said that, it's not a hard and fast rule. Based on your response, the doctor may change a dose, etc. but still want to do IUI. I'm not a PCOS expert, so I'd advise you to talk to the ladies on our PCOS board for their input. You can certainly try to increase the Clomid dose, but keep in mind that going much over 100mg isn't always effective with Clomid.

Are you seeing an RE or an ob/gyn? You should be monitored during your cycle, both with u/s and labs, that way you and your doctor will know if the tx plan is effective. Labs would be able to detect the LH surge as well as monitor your post ov estrogen and progesterone levels.

As for the 2ww...wish there was a good answer for that one! What I found helpful was to try to set up little treats every few days. That gave me something to look forward to and helped the time pass faster. Also, do whatever you can to distract yourself. Read a good novel, watch movies, etc. Spend a lot of time at FT, because everyone here can understand what you're going through! As for the no no's...don't refuse the glass of wine, just don't drink it. Carry it around (dump some in the sink when no one is looking!), take a pretend sip now and then. That way people don't think twice and won't question you.

IF is hard and it's isolating. Try to get connected with local people that are going through the same thing, either through FT or a support group with Resolve.

    Cel

I also have PCOS. I did not respond at all to 50 mg of clomid, but 100mg of clomid and metformin did the trick! Good luck!!!!

Thank you both! I had blood this morning, should get results this afternoon sometime... so if BFP, YEA!... if BFN, I'm going to ask my doc to up my dose of clomid right away to 100mg... maybe a larger trigger too, I will ask him. I've read that bigger women (like me) sometimes the trigger is not strong enough after absorbtion through the abdomen... thank you for your advice.
