Eating is over-rated anyway.

Do you have any idea when you might be able to do tx? I know it's very hard when you have to fund it yourself (we had to pay for our first IVF out of pocket).

Gosh, I'm surprised the UK board is quiet...so many UK'ers are here! Poke around some of the other boards (general IF, male factor, etc.) to see if you can find them!

hi,
have finally got a date for aspiration in sep, then we'll see what tx we can do after that as we've been told, they may not find anything....if not, we can try icsi, but don't know how long after yet. after so many apparently false starts, it's really hard to believe we might finally be able to have a cycle, so i'm carrying on holding my breath! seems like every time we have an idea of a time, there's an 'unexpected' result leading to a routine 6 week wait, before another 6 week wait, and so on. i had thought, naively, that we might have been able to start in april. that was a long time ago! i've read a lot of posts, and am trying to still have hope, but am almost developing an expectation that people go through this a number of times before having a successful pg. i notice you said you paid for your first cycle. how many have you had, and how did they go? sorry if that's too personal a question, but still finding people's openess here very refreshing!

Hi everyone~
This thread seems like it's been abandoned so I'm here to bring it back to life. Just wanted to share my first experiences with IF testing as I am now in the workup phase with my RE. Before I even made my first appt with the RE, I mentioned to my gyno that we had been trying for awhile with no luck. She immediately ordered some bloodwork (Day 3 test to check FSH and estradiol levels). My FSH was 6.8 (normal) and my estradiol was 89 (a little high). I had my HSG test the same afternoon of my first appt with RE. The HSG test is uncomfortable, but only for a few seconds -- literally! When they first insert the dye, that's when it hurts. Just feels like very bad period cramps. But then after that it's not bad at all. I was able to look at the xray screen and see the dye myself and was totally fine. The whole thing took about 5 minutes! So don't be scared about that. I took a vicodin and 2 advils before going. I would advise taking something. anyway, the HSG test for me was normal. The first appt with the RE was just basically an overview of the process and his preliminary guess at my dx. He thought it was probably an ov problem, but fast forward to today, and seems that I'm ovulating fine. DH's s/a wasn't so good, so there is probably a bit of mf involved. On my second appt, they did a vaginal u/s, where they look at your ovaries and try to see if you have any mature follicles. They did find one (I was on cd15). Then I came in for a follow-up appt today where they did another u/s to see if your follicle has decreased in size, which can mean that you did ov. Mine did, and my progesterone test came back showing the same (12.1). Before today's tests, my RE was thinking of probably suggesting IUI for my next cycle. He said due to my age (39), he will suggest a more aggressive course of action. I will make another appointment for very soon to get "next step instructions". Don't know if he will still suggest IUI or not. We had BMS last week at the right time(s), so there's a chance I could be pg now, in which case I don't need the help of the RE. I wish they could have tested for that when I went in today for my follow-up bloodwork! I POAS this morning and got a BFN, but it is probably too soon (7dpo). Will try again Monday, because this brand is supposed to detect hcg early. Anyway, that's my story (sorry for the novel). Would love to hear yours. Cheers, Shortee |

Hello and welcome!
Thanks for posting your story! This thread is primarily for people to post their experiences with If testing and procedures, to help others know what to expect. Others will benefit from your experience! I see you're in Chicago. What doctor are you seeing? How did this cycle turn out for you? I was also in my late 30s when ttc, so I understand the pressure of time. Please feel free to start a new thread on the board and let us know how you are doing!! Cel |

endo
Hi. I had a lap done about 8 months ago which they found a cyst tumor and stage 3 endo. I conceived the next month, but had a mc. I haven't had any luck and went back to the clinic. I was told my best option is to have another lap. Does this seem routine?
