Hi Deana,
I know it can be so very frustrating. My gynae had me do hormone tests/Semen analysis/laproscopy before starting any treatment. At present what i feel frustrated about is that i am reading that follies should be measured and blood tests post O should be done but i am not having any of these...its like we're in the same boat but i intend telling my doc re this.Hope this helpsGood luck..you are in my thoughts

The Clomid challenge is a test to determine the quality of your eggs by measuring the levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) produced by your body. You'll take two blood tests on either side of five days of Clomid.

So far,I have taken clomid once (50 mg). I went in to have test done on day 20 that said I did not ovulate. The doc upped the dose, but I went to see him a few weeks later with a positive pg test. He said I must have ovulated at day 28. Doesn't really mattered, mc at week 7.

I'm glad to have the Clomid Challenge explained to me. I have been wondering what it was but hadn't had the courage to ask! Thank you!
I was on 50mg of Clomid for three months, along with IUI. My husband and I are referred to as unexplained infertility. Well, he's plenty fertile but I'm not. So my gyno put me on Clomid and we did IUI to increase our chances of getting pregnant. Alas, it did not work and we're seeing an RE at the end of June. I ovulate on my own so I guess the Clomid was just supposed to increase my odds....
Anyway, I had bad hot flashes with Clomid and a really nasty case of depression/anger for 2 days the week of my period. I had never experienced that before the Clomid. The depression was bad enough I was lucky to move my butt off the couch and go to work. And I would also have weird pains, sometimes sharp stabbing pains, in my uterus and ovary area. I'm not on Clomid this month and I haven't had those so I'm assuming it was a result of taking Clomid.

Hello Ladies,
First let me apologize for the long post.
I'm new and very confused. I need some experienced clomid user's opinions. I have secondary infertility. I have had no problem getting pregnant in the past, but now when I'm planning it's not happening. My husband is fine (in the medical sense) and I have a healthy 2 1/2 yr old boy. My previous pregnacy was a miscarriage.
They can't see why I'm having trouble and assumed I was ovulating poorly, so I was put on Clomid 50mg. It worked in May, but I was away and took it just to see if it worked, which it did, my lp was about 12 days of high temps.
But then June I took it on 6/5 - 6/9. By day 6/19, when I should be o'ing, I had what seemed like a period for 7 days. My temps took a nosedive. My dr. most likely an anovulatory cycle and that Clomid doesn't work every cycle and try again. But my breast are killing me, I have headaches and I have'nt had my "period" since, all hpt's are bfn. They gave me something to bring it down so I can continue the meds.
Is this true? Can it work one month and not the next?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanx In Advance

Hi Desiree and welcome to the site.
I'm sorry about your m/c. Did your doctor do any kind of a workup? I'm concerned they "assumed" you were not ovulating and just started you on Clomid. Very often ob/gyn's do that without getting all the information. A basic workup would include hormone levels and u/s, and having DH tested. You can get more information about this at www.fertilityplus.com. How long have you been ttc? If it's been a year, you might consider seeing an RE.
Good luck!

Thankx BC-CEL,
I needed to speak with people who understood.
Apparantely all of my tests came back fine, so I can't see why they would think I wasn't ovulating. My DH was just "within limits". The Dr. that treated me for the miscarriage was great, but unfortunately that was in a clinic so they could not guarantee I would get him everytime. It's been 14 mos, I'm definately going to see an RE. I'll keep you posted.
How are things with you??

I'm happy to hear you're planning to see an RE, especially since it's been over a year. Keep us posted on how you're doing and when you'll get to see the doctor!

Hi Ladies,
Well you could call me an Expert when it comes to Clomid I've done 8 total cycles!
PG #1 , 50 mg cycle day 3-7 ovulated and got pg = heathy ds born in 2000.
PG #2, (first month )50 mg cycle day 3-7 Failed, Same thing the following month , Failed again.
Took a break to enjoy the summer, Went back the following Fall. 50mg cd 3-7,
Failed. following much 100 mg cd3-7 failed. Following month 100 mg cd 3-7,
Finally SUCCESS! Sadly ended in m/c @ 13 wks, due to chromosone abnormalities.
Took A 3 month break
PG #3, 50 mg (dr wanted to lower the dose and see how my responce was)
days 3-7, Failed.
Next month 50mg cd 3-7, Failed again.
Took a few months off, Switched dr's.
100 mg cd 3-7, SUCCESS Again, & Another m/c @ 11 wks
due to the same chromosone abnormality.
Every cycle I would say was my last, But due to PCOS I don't ovulate on my
own and clomid did infact get me to ovulate each time I took it.
The side affects were really bad for me and included, Headache's,
Hot Flashes & the worse PMS mood swings ever!
I moved onto IVF and had success the first time and delivered
a HEATHY baby. The injectable fertility medication was so easy compared to
taking clomid.
IT does work for some! Good luck to everyone!Clomid miracle '00

Hi Again,
I'm starting to believe my first month was actually successful with clomid, but I'll never know because I was away. Besides, because doc never checked anyway. I don't what I was thinking. I knew I was going away, but I just wanted to see if it would work, assuming that if it didn't my doc would increase dosage. I had know idea that it would be so bad the next month.
Well, thanks to the advice of BC-CEL and ladies in another post, I have an appt. this monday with an RE.
Wish me luck and the same for you all!!!
Desiree
