    Clomid and Monitoring?

I'm starting Clomid on Wednesday! I'm REALLY excited to be starting Clomid, but I'm kind of wondering about something. From everything I've read, you're supposed to be monitored a lot with Clomid. They told me to take it days 3-7 and have BMS every other day from day 10 to 17 and then to come back for a progesterone level check on cd-21. Is this normal for a first round of Clomid? I'm thinking maybe they just want to see if I ovulate with just the Clomid. Could that be it? I was expecting ultrasound and everything to check on follicles and all, but who knows?

i just finished my second round of clomid at 150mg for days 5-9 and have the bms everyother day as you will have to. i haven't had any ultra sounds to check my follies either. i think it all depends on your doc and your type of infertility. hope all goes well for you and your side effects aren't too out of control.

It does seem to depend on the type of doctor. In general, ob/gyn's tend not to monitor as much as RE's. Did you ask your doctor about monitoring? IMO, it does seem that they can get more info about how the drug is working for you by monitoring. That way they can make dosage adjustments or medication changes.

    Good luck with your cycle!

    Going to start Clomid

Hi I am going to start my first round of Clomid 50mg my gyno told me to take it day 5-9 once I get my period. She told me to use an ovulation kit on day 25 thru 35 because my cycles have been between 30-43 days. She said if I don't ovulate to let her know. I've notice people said about side effects, has anyone experienced the side effects? If so what were they?

i've taken clomid for two cycles (one at 50mg and the other at 150mg) and have had the same side effects with both. with mine i've had hot flashes, some nausea, and massive mood swings. i know everyone is different but i think that everyone has pretty much the same effects but it all differs on the severity of them. the side effects are bothersome but managable.
    good luck!

    clomid oldie

Welcome to the fabulous world of Clomid. Just kidding i Have taken 5 cycles of it and it has resulted it pregnancy. My doctor was one of the greats and 10 days after my cycle she did numerous ultrasounds to detect a good egg every other day till she found one. then rushed me home to well ya know. I still have no children but by no fault of the clomid. Beware though it does give false symptoms so be guarded. I sincerely hope your dreams come true. -jennifer

hi all im in my first cycle on clomid now, took 50mg on 3-7, i didnt acctually o until cd 18 though (my temps rose on cd19 and have stayed up for the last 4 days!yeah) i had my original progest draw on cd21 like ordered, but my gyn is sending me back to have another 7 days past o, so monday(lab is closed on sun), cuz i didnt o on cd14 like the norm.

as far as symptoms go though i didnt have many, had the night sweats(one night was so hot i just stripped of my jammies, threw them on the foor and slept naked, dh woke up the next morning and asked what kind of fun he missed out on ), other than that just wierd crammping on my sides, not like af cramps, but more of a pulling sensation, gyn said that was fine as long as it wasnt painful cramps, said it was my ovaries being stimulated, the only thing i have been told is that DO NOT drink caffeine, this can cause all the symptoms to be much worse hope this helps, and hand in there, were all in the same boat...we should all be able to keep it from sinking
