Happy Belated Birthday! I can't believe our first "June" babies are one now! I can't wait to see pictures and hear about their special day.

Thanks so much everyone! We had planned to have their bday party at a petting zoo on the actual day and then it was supposed to rain so I bumped it back a week. We just had my parents over and it was a great laid back day.
Their party was fun too and we had a lot of family and friends come. I had it at a park with a petting zoo so the kids could run around the playground. I put up our big playpen and the babies were all corralled in there. It was a beautiful day and I'm glad I moved it up. It was sooo windy but oh well...better than rain. The girls had a great time and so did everyone else. We grilled burgers and I made a petting zoo cake. We had ice cream cone cupcakes for the little kids. It was a great day! ****VENT AHEAD*** The only thing that was upsetting was that dh's mom didn't come to either day?!!! She lives a half hour away. She works at this falling apart restaurant and was supposed to take off for their first birthday. She didn't come over on their real bday and I figured she'd come to the party. Nope, she showed up at our house at 6pm. The party was from 2-5! The girls were eating dinner and getting ready for their 7:30 bedtime! She gives us this excuse about a party of 20 coming to the restaurant just as she was going to leave and some people didn't come in to work, blah blah blah. This woman puts that restaurant way before her grandkids and her family. She will work there for several hours after her shift and not get paid, and she doesn't care. She does that even on the days she is supposed to come see the girls. She gets here at 5:30 or later when they are cranky and getting into night mode. Then she showed up and complained when I was putting them to bed at 8 that night. I let them stay up to see her a bit. She asked to see pics of them in their dress and with the cake. I ignored her. She should've come to their birthday! She is such a flake, she has never changed a diaper or their outfits at all or done anything like that. I can never leave them alone with her. But she could've shown up to their bday. If they were older that would've hurt them that she didn't come. And it did hurt dh. Luckily, her sister is more of a Grandma to the girls than she ever will be. She comes over once a week and takes care of them so I can do whatever. She came to the party an hour early to help us set up. She was so angry that their Grandma didn't come. I think the only thing the babies are to her is a reason to brag to other people and show pics, she is so phoney and couldn't care less about them. But she will show their pics to everyone. Ok, vent over....sorry. I needed that. Here are the pics from their real bday and I'll get the party ones up when their aunt comes to give me a break. Their grandma is supposed to come today too, but last week she called and canceled so who knows if she'll show. http://picasaweb.google.com/BeccaNJa...MTYmcy979yO1QE# |

Oh Becca, they're just SO adorable. Love their little party dresses and their sweet smiles
That's so frustrating about their grandmother - those are the situations you just bang your head against the wall, trying to understand. That's got to be hard. Maybe she'll come around? I guess you can only hope she does especially when they're a little older and understand more.

Your girls look so precious in their new dresses! I'm so glad that they had such a great time. As far as dh's mother, we are dealing with the same sh** here from my dh's mother. She is constantly asking for pictures of our babies but it's all for bragging rights because she has very little to do with them. And when she does come over, she doesn't play with them, feed them, change diapers, etc - she just hands out money. It's ridiculous! If she talks to them, all she does is criticize for things that they aren't doing and she has no patience for temper tantrums. The only reason she comes over is to see her son. It's gotten to the point where if I know she's coming over, I find a place for the kids and I to go. I dread seeing her car pull into the driveway. I'm sorry that you are dealing with this as well. I hope the girls' grandmother comes around soon.

Your little girls are beautiful!! They look like they had a fantastic day. Happy birthday to them! Sorry to hear about your MIL. My MIL and I used to get along amazingly but not so much since DS was born. Lucky for us though, we live very far away. Good for you for not letting it get to you. It's you (and not her) that really matter to your little beauties.
