Toys

I'm having a hard time finding toys that C likes to play with. He's got quite a lot of toys but they don't seem to hold his attention. He's got a school bus filled with mega blocks that occasionally holds his attn for longer than 5 mins but otherwise he'd always rather be crawling around - trying to get into mischief. lol I'm thrilled he's crawling but would be nice if he would sit still for, say, 15 mins while I clean up or whatever. His exersaucer used to do the trick but not so much anymore. What toys do your LOs love to play with?

hee hee hee... Ava love to play with the dog's bones, the dog's water dish, the dog's bed, electrical plugs, the vacuum cleaner, the toilet, the basket of wood next to the fireplace, and basically anything else that is dangerous or dirty.

All kidding aside, we have had great luck with touch and feel books. She loves flipping the pages and running her fingers across the tactile parts. I also got her a Playskool "Busy Ball Popper" that came highly recommended by moms in my library group. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=2264669 She was overwhelmed by it at first, but now she kind of likes it. I am not crazy about it - it is loud.

I posted a similar question recently regarding "child containment" and got some great suggestions from the ladies here. Overall, I have found that placing Ava in her pack n play with a bunch of books and some toys and turning on music, or occasionally Sesame Street, has bought me about 30 - 45 minutes to run around the house for laundry and basic housework. The only problem is that if I go near the room where she is "contained" and she sees me... it is all over.

Best of luck!
Kristen

I am going through alot of the same things as you right now. Most of the toys he has are not as interesting to him as the dogs stuff, dirt in the plant, lamp cords etc. The few things that do hold his interest for a little bit (by this I mean like 10 minutes!) are the Fisher price play and learn house, we also have the busy ball popper now that he knows how to get it going likes that and fisher price people airplane and tractor. That's about it though, I am going to go tomorrow and find a few things that are a little more advanced so see if he'd be interested in something new.
When he nap strikes I will use the pack and play but he's only good confined for about 15 minutes!

lol That's JUST like us. All the dog's belonging, plant dirt is THE thing..lol Hmmm.. I'll definitely have a look at the ball popper.. Keep me posted if u guys find something. To let u guys know too: I gave him a plastic strainer, and a small tupperware bowl with one of those links in it and it entertained him for a while. Of course, he's over it now.. lol : )

I bought the ball popper but the jury's out so far...she kind of looks at it, and chews the balls, but can't quite figure out what the deal is. Our dog however LOVES it and goes crazy when the balls pop out!

Carrots - am I missing something with this ball popper? Seems like the balls end up all over the place (they come flying out of the tube)! Is that what's supposed to happen? I feel like I'm constantly chasing balls...

I am in the same situation here. Nothing keeps her attention. I did get that fisher price house/front door thing a few weeks ago at a kids resale shop and she does love it. mostly she loves standing on it and climbing it, but it does keep her busy for more than 5 min. She also likes the soft books and plastic books (the plastic ones are suppose to be bath toys); she also likes the hard books that sing nursery rhymes. All the little toys she won't even touch.

KKB, Nope, you are not missing anything. I am constantly chasing balls too. It is funny for the first 30 seconds and then I find myself wishing I could return the popper to BRU.

My dog loves it too! He goes nuts when the balls fly out of the tube and end up rolling on the floor.

We had friends over last weekend with their children, who were 2 and 4 and they LOVED the Ball Popper. They were screaming and laughing and running all over the place chasing the balls. Soooo, I guess this might be a toy that "grows" with our LOs?.?.

So I was at a play date w/C and the other mom showed me this little house thing that her son just loves and, lo and behold, C was pretty into it too - and for the whole hour or so we were there! It's a Fish__ Price Little People set. Going to see if I can pick one up next week. Will get back once I've picked it up...
