They know 3 letters!

Both T and B have been really into letters lately, but usually call everything an "s" or the "cuh" sound so I didn't really think the concept was catching on yet. BUT, today at the bookstore a LO had a shirt with the letter "M" on it and T pointed and said "m" and this AM while drinking my coffee I asked B to go find the letter "O" and he went and got it and they both couldn't get enough of the "S"s and "C"s on my Chicago Starbuck's mug (of course it was full to the brim with hot coffee at the time!)

awwww...this is going so fast!

Letters?!?!? OH COME ON!

LOL.

Seriously, Wyatt is still working on those first words. We are NOWHERE near letter recognition. Heck, he still would rather eat a book than read it.

Sigh.

Ok, but I am happy for your LOs. They are smart cookies.

Crystal

LOL! Awww, look at that sweet face. She's definitely not dumb.

I like to think of it as Wyatt is just a sponge, too busy soaking everything in to "give back", and one day he is going to be a genius!

Well I can hope anyway. LOL.

I think this is the age when it starts to get SO hard not to compare! I think it's awesome that T and B are learning letters! WTG. Henry also likes to abuse books, so he's not there yet.

I hope everyone keeps sharing their LO's achievements, and that we all remember that every child does things at different rates. My baby happens to be a sumo wrestler who has fully mastered sitting in a big chair, eating with utensils and can polish off an entire ribeye by himself. But also count him among the non-talking book eaters who would rather throw toys into the potty than sit on it.

For me, this is where having my kids so spread out is an advantage. I am able to see the three oldest, all at school ages, and know that the age they started to do things (or didn't do them) rarely had a direct coorelation with how they did with them at on older age. Aaron, for one, knew VERY few letters entering ktgn and he didn't know any letter sounds. By the end of K he was reading at a 2nd grade level and now, at 13 reads at a college level.

ETA: I should have also said that none of them were doing such amazing cool things this early and I am without a doubt that T and B will continue to excell well beyond their years. They obviously rock!

Leslie, I know what you mean. (Sorry to hijack your thread med!) I find that what helps me, esp. when I'm down about skills/comparisons etc. is to focus on the things he does. Henry has the best laugh, the best smile, and IMHO the cutest face ever, so I am all about telling him how he is the smiliest and sunniest, the friendliest and funniest, every day. Same with Gil. Gil is behind in a lot of things right now, but this kid can ski and shovel snow better than I can.

Kendra, that's great about Aaron.

And there are no dummies on this board!
