Aria is only pooping every 3 or 4 days. Is anyone else having this "problem"? I say problem because when she does poop the diaper has no chance. She had poop to her nipples in the front and to her shoulder blades in the back...we just had to put her in the sink and give her a quasi bath. I would never have believed how much poo one little girl can produce!!

Whoa that sounds like one big mess. Like Leslie said I've also read that some babies only go every few days. It may be normal for her.

Is she in pain or is it just the monster poos that concern you?
Sometimes, she will miss a day,but I don't really know. William went for days once when he was about 4 months old. He was in agony. My mom told me to give him a baby suppository which we did and it was just shocking. He felt alot better after that.
Are you giving her formula? Formula tends to do this (and we had been supplementing with formula for william).
I hope when she does her monster poos, you are at home.

I read the same thing that babies might go for days without pooing. Poor thing! She was really backed up!
I was up in your neck of the woods last night for pizza -- mmmm.....

Lula-
Where did you go for pizza? Pizza is dh's favorite food...so I know all the places. Our favorite is in the barrio on Roosevelt off Carlsbad Village Drive called New York Pizza--it is excellent.
Aria is exclusively breast fed. I've read that as babies get older (ie over 6 weeks) their digestive system matures and they "hold onto" the breast milk longer to get the nutrients out. Our ped gave us glycerin suppositories but we are only supposed to use them if she goes 4 days or more without a poop.
I have no clue what we'd do if we were out...it is an ungodly mess!

rachel, we had a monster poo tonight when we were out
We were in the park and she was in the baby bjorn. All I can say is gross, gross, gross. Thank god I had a change of clothes in the car as I had only brought wipes and a diaper. I hope it doesn't happen to you.

Rachel, Owen is also exclusively breastfed, too, and he USED to go every 2-4 hours. Ever since he got his shots (including the oral vaccine for rotavirus), his belly is all screwed up. He'll miss 2 days, then explode the next, then back to normal again, and then miss a couple of days, then another monster poop. It's so frustrating...and to think he's got to take those vaccines again at 4 months and 6 months. Ugh!
So far we haven't gone 4 days...you poor thing. I'm glad that your ped said it was normal and that she wouldn't need a supp. until 4 days have gone by.

Rachel - we went to Pizza Port. After living here on and off for 13 years it was our first time. We were up at the pond store on State and DH suggested stopping at PP, but I think he was more interested in trying their beer. I was starving and it tasted so good. Next time we'll try the place you recommended.
Btw, Bennett was mesmerized at the pond store. He loved to stare at the aquariums and the huge vats of koi. Now I want to take him to an aquarium.
jools - I'm not surprised either!
Diana- I'm sorry your little guy has tummy issues from the vaccines! No fun.

Just back from peds office...Aria did really well with getting the shots...we'll see how she does in the next 24 hours. Giving her the Tylenol .8cc an hour before we went helped I'm pretty sure...
Talked to ped about poo problem. He says he had a 2 month old who didn't go for 12 (!!!) days and when he went, filled 3 diapers...and that 3 or 4 days was within the range of normal..
