Jolly jumper

I'm wondering when to use the Jolly Jumper. My DS, if you put him on your chest and support head and back, and lift him up and down, will use his legs to jump off your chest. He's got very very strong, long legs, and he also finds it amusing (laughs and smiles.)
He had always been able to support his head for a good few minutes, but now when in the Fisher-Price infant seat, he will lift his head from the seat now. I'm thinking he'd find the Jumper entertaining and fun, but I don't want to start him on it when he may not be ready yet.
So, when's a good time to use it?

I don't know when is a good time, but we broke down our Jumperoo last week (DD is 4m today). She LOVES it. However, I don't think her back is strong enough yet to stay barely supported, so so far I let her play in it only 5 min at the time (2-3 times a day). Not sure if it's a good idea, but I'll stick with it until pedi appt tomorrow.

We don't have a jolly jumper we have an exersaucer and he loves to play in that already. I think so long as head support is good now is fine for short periods. He is always trying to jump when I'm holding him so we are compemplating getting him a jumperoo also and I would put him in that now also. What you could do is put your LO in the jolly jumper and see how it goes. He will let you know if he is uncomfortable or doesn't like it and you'll be able to see if it is too early

We have a jumperoo but we haven't gotten it out yet. In fact, we were just talking about it today. It's another thing we were going to ask the dr. about. But, I was thinking about getting her a Jolly Jumper as well because it seems like kiddos can jump a lot more in those than in the Jumperoos. Does anyone know?

Yug - I am looking forward to hearing what your Ped. says about feeding and the Jumperoo!

I guess we could try the exersaucer, though DS is at a point that he hates the infant seat, he hates the playard bassinet but he's not able to sit on his own.. ugh.. he's so active and his favourite game seems to be "pretend" walking on someone's chest. I'll do it just to hear him laugh. He also makes these cute little squeals when he's excited and happy--love hearing that too.
Maybe we'll wait a couple weeks for the exer-saucer or jolly jumper.. my SIL is the one giving us the jolly jumper, her DD is 11 months and is too old for it now that she's figured out walking!

Which one is she giving you? Do you know the brand? I was reading the reviews on the Sassy one and one of the kiddos actually got tipped over and dumped out on his head!!!! So I would not recommend Sassy.

I'm already using the jolly jumper. DD has awesome head control & is almost sitting unaided.

He didn't seem to like the jolly jumper much but we did try the exer-saucer when at my brother's house. Unfortunately that particular exer-saucer is discontinued, so we'll just have to get another one.

My DD is 4 1/2 months and I have put her in the doorway jumper and jumparoo for a few weeks now. Mostly she just stands and looks around and plays with the toys. In the doorway jumper she spins around. Not much jumping going on. My first child was fully jumping by this age.
