Question Outgrown infant tub - what's next?

Well, it seems Diana grew out of her First Year Sure Comfort Tub... Or, rather, I've outgrown it DD loves her bathtime, but the kicking and playing leaves virtually NO water in it. And puddles on the floor.

I'd like to move her into a big tub and was looking for suitable props. I tried sponge and a little recliner hammock borrowed from friend and I didn't like either . Both are too "horizontal", I can't have water high enough to cover her at least to her chest without getting into her ears...

I guess all we need is something to get by until DD can sit by herself, but until then...What do you guys use? Does it work for you?

We use something similar. I can't think of anything else until they are sitting. Let me know if you find something.

barge from January 08-

congrats to all of you!!

once baby just starts to sit up, you can use this tub.. we still use it (at 9 months old) and it works great.. It helps to have a 2nd person to hold baby until they are stable alone..

Just blow it up and put it in the regular tub...

I'm using a seat in the big tub for Elise but she has excellent head control (has since 2wks) & sits well aided. Otherwise I just get in the tub with her.

AerynSun - it depends so much on the baby. My older girls did it around 4mos.

I've heard of bathing them in the sink if it is deep enough! LOL We actually did that when we went out of town. CJ loved it. Of course we had to hold her and all. There was no sprayer so we just used a cup to rinse her off!

I think she'll be outgrowing her little tub soon. She loves to kick and splash water all over the place. The other night, she somehow managed to release the plug and there was water all over me and all over the floor!! LOL

One of DH's friends gave us one of those blow up tubs. Maybe that'll be our next move.

Since Austin outgrew the hammock in the infant tub, I didn't like to use it by itself because I wasn't happy with the incline and security (he would slump to the side and I was afraid hes slip his face into the water) So right now we are using an inclining hammock that sits alone in the big tub. I just put a couple inches of water in the tub and use the sprayer attatchment for the shower. It still doesn't cover him as much as I'd like, like you said if it covered his chest, he'd get water in his ears... So we are just waiting it out till he can sit up I guess... I tried a few different infant tubs, and some do have a better incline so you can put more water in them, but I just wasn't happy with the "security" of them if ykwim? Let us know if you find something that works better, I'd be interested to know too! Good luck!

barge from June

Check out the Tummy Tub (you can google it for pics and info). It's essentially like a bucket for baby so they sit in it rather than lie down. I couldn't figure out how it would work when DD was really tiny, but now that she's got good head control and is so much bigger, it seems like it could be a good way to do bath time until she's sitting up. I find that with our current infant tub she moves around so much that she practically whacks her head on the sides of the big tub.

Aiden outgrew his tub and we went this weekend to babies r us and bought a tub seat. It attaches to the side of the tub and has a seat attached that sits on the bottom of the tub and swivels to make bathing easier. We tried it last night and it worked great

Hmm...yeah, one of those tummy tubs might work (they have different brands of that type of tub). I have never used one but we used to live in England and they seem to be pretty popular over there. I used to see them in all of the baby stores.
