15 month check-up

Evan is doing great... He weighs 25 lbs. 4.5 oz. and is in the 58th%-60th% for weight and is 32 inches tall and is in the 72nd%-75th% for height.. His head is 19 inches, still has a big head

He is walking great, eating pretty good (although is being ALOT pickier and driving mommy alittle nuts ).

Pedi asked if Evan was stacking objects yet and we said we've seen him stack 6 blocks so far and he was VERY impressed and said that stacking 2 blocks is average for this age.. GO EVAN!!

He said his speech is fine for his age, as he says probably 3-5 words other than mommy/daddy. He said to keep working on this and not give in too easily, make him tell you what he wants to encourgage more language.. He was glad to hear that Evan understands just about everything! (Go get you ball, pick up your shoes, bring mommy the book, etc).

He still has his intermitten congestion/cough that he's had basically since he was born. We were on Singulair to see if that helped, but I took him off to see if it made a difference. I don't think I should have taken him off right now though, due to all of the wind/allergies, not good timing, so I may put him back onfor another month or so till summer to really tell... ??

I asked about peanut butter and shellfish and he said go for it, so I think I will try those foods soon.

He got the Chicken Pox vaccine and the DTaP today... Yuck!

**He also said that time outs can be very effective starting at this age for 1-2 minutes.... So, we will see how that goes if need be...

Overall a good visit.... It's so bittersweet, because he's becoming such a big boy...

Sounds like an awesome appointment! Evan looks like he is right on track.

Trust me, time out is very effective! We have been using it since about 13 months. At first it was a fight and we would hold her in the corner until she would calm down, but now we just tell her to go to time out and she goes to her corner and sticks her nose it in. It is kinda funny to see. She huffs in the corner and puts her hands behind her back. We leave her there 30 secs usually. Maybe a little longer. It works 3 out of 4 times for us I would think. It is a good distraction from the bad she is doing. A good rule of thumb we use in early childhood is one minute of time out for each year the child is. So right now they should only be in time out for a minute. And that minute is an eternity to them!!!

Glad to hear Evan is doing so well!!!

Great job, Evan and mommy! Sounds like he's doing great. Funny, my ped said the exact opposite about PB and shellfish. She told me to avoid all nuts and shellfish at this age. She actually had me wait until older dd was 3 before allowing PB so that's probably what I'll do with Alyssa too.

Kirbyluv-

I should have added that when we were trying to figure out his coughing, etc. We did a blood test a few months back for allergies. It was for foods and included peanuts and shellfish. So pedi said he wouldn't worry about those since it came back negative. What we didn't test for was the environmental (this is a completely different blood test) thus the singulair....

I'm still nervous for him to eat these 2 things for some reason.. ??
