Just got off the phone with my friend (the one I've griped about in the past). She told me she was admitted overnight Friday due to lots of bleeding. Apparently she had bleeding in the placenta (incredibly naive question--wouldn't that be placenta abruptia?) She was told she is on bedrest until October (when the baby is due) and that she is only supposed to be getting out of bed when she needs to use the bathroom. But then goes on to say that she is taking the girls out for a walk later today, how she plans to go to some of the upcoming consignment sales, out for groceries, etc. Now, I know there is modified bedrest, but the way she described it, that's not what they told her to do. I really think this girl is just yanking me around at this point, either for sympathy or just for the fun of it. Or am I just being sensitive (or insensitive, if you can see that side of it since I'm being suspicious at this point)? Really thinking of just not answering the phone anymore when she calls, but that leaves me feeling somewhat guilty if she really needs a friend, something I take very seriously (friendship, that is). Ugh, just don't know what to think...

Ummm, doesn't bedrest generally mean staying in bed? (pg ment)

pg ment.
I am kind of surprised that she would already be on bedrest until October. I mean I could see them putting her on it and reassessing the situation later. I am due with my second on October 5th and I am only 9 weeks pg as of yesterday. At this point, I am not even sure if a placenta would be fully developed (placental development takes place between week 8-12). I can see where you might doubt her story, I even do a little. I would be shocked that a doctor would tell her indefinitely this early that she would be on strict bedrest through the rest of the pg. Bleeding in the placenta could mean many things, especially if she didn't really understand how the doctor explained it--she could have a SCH or maybe even previa. I am not sure why if she is on bedrest she seems to have plans to be so active. As her friend, when she does mention all these plans, I would just gently remind her "didn't the doctor tell you that you need to limit your activities right now" or something like "I think you need to slow down and take care of yourself and your baby"--maybe she doesn't understand the severity of the situation. I am not sure why she is telling you one thing and seeming to do something different than she is telling you. If she continues to irk you or push off your advice, I would just distance yourself right now. I think it would be really hard for me if I was in your situation to sympathize with her if something happened to the baby knowing that she is blatantly ignoring doctors orders.

Tea... I think back to our recent conversations.. and I have been home now for 3 weeks.. meaning based on kmsnj's timing, she would have been 6 weeks when I busted my knee.. but.. I remember us talking when I was shopping and that was a few weeks before that... but she had already been preg for alittle while???
OOOOH... 2/3 is your post about her being preg!!! If you DONT believe her.. then get a note book and write everything she says down.
I know, being just as bad. I just dont want my friend to be taken advantage of by some not nice person! Just dont answer your phone.. but only when SHE calls..
