IVF - Multiple IVF'ers This is a place for those that have gone through or are going through IVF and have done multiple IVF cycles. There maybe mention of other children in posts. Undergoing IVF can be physically, emotionally, and financially draining, particularly for women who are unsuccessful and proceed with another or multiple IVFs.

We didn't have any diet restrictions but I did cut out all caffine, alcohol and tried to limit my fat intake and eat really well. I guess i figured that it couldn't hurt.

I was, however, told to cut out any kind of "bouncing" exersize (running, aerobics, spinning with jumps, etc) and I ended up just walking while I was stimming.

Best of luck

You know I think it all depends on who's treating you. Caffiene has been linked to increased MC rates so so women choose to not consume any while they are stimming or pregnant. My RE says a cup of coffee a day is fine but is much more strict about what he considers to be "endocrine disruptors." That means limiting perfumes, scented lotions, shampoos or excessive fabric softeners. So again, I think the information is out there for you to investigate and of course you can aslways ask your RE. I was on the cautious side and had one cup of decaf a day and lots of Rooibos tea which was a nice substitue whenever I craved a warm beverage. Just like Momto3 I cut out all of my high impact excersise and just stuck with walking during the stimms. I gained a little weight but I just remind myself at this point my objective is to get preggo, not be a swimsuit model!

I've done IVF at 2 different places so far (Seattle and New Jersey) and both of the places i've been to say no caffeine or alcohol throughout the entire process. i basically drank decaf the whole time. In terms of wine, i still had a glass here and there through the suppression phase (Lupron and birth control). i also came upon this article which seems to show that alcohol has a negative effect on IVF - based on a study from Harvard Medical School:

"Drinking Alcohol 'Harms IVF Success Rate'"

Alcohol Damages IVF Fertility Treatment, A Harvard Medical School Study Shows | UK News | Sky News

There are, however, a lot of people who drank both caffeine and alcohol during the cycles - it's just impossible to predict if you'll be negatively affected.

Good luck!

My theory was that if I had to question myself if I was allowed to eat or drink it then I shouldn't!

Our doc didn't mention anything about diet or exercise whilst I was stimulating however post transfer it was a case of limit caffeine, no alcohol, no strenuous activities.

I followed all the post transfer advice however I admit I did have a number of glasses of wine the weekend before the egg collection.

I have also put on quite a bit of weight since starting the fertility treatment. Not sure if its the meds that do it, or feeling down a lot that makes me eat a lot, or the fact that in the lead up to "that time of month" I limit exercise. But like libran68 I think this is not the time to be wanting to look like a swimsuit model! It just means I will have to work harder at the end of the pregnancy (because it will happen!!!)
