male factor and boarderline fsh (loss ment)

Hi there, I am 29, DH is 28. We just finished our 1st IVF/ICSI cycle which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. We were originally diagnosed with male factor (low morphology), which brought us to our RE. During initial lab work, it was discovered I had boarderline fsh @ 11.6. We retreive 6 eggs, 5 mature. Three fertilized with ICSI, and we transfered 1 8 cell and 1 4 cell on day 3 (the third embryo stopped growing prior to tranfer).
We met with our RE yesterday. He thinks poor quality sperm may be the cause for the chemical. I am not sure though with my fsh level. He wants to run a couple tests on me, such as a clomid challange test. He also suggests freezing a couple semen samples from DH so they can choose the best sperm for our future cycle.
Anyways, I am hoping to hear from anyone dealing with male factor and boarderline/high fsh. Would love to hear some success stories as well!

Thank you,

Dena

I am sorry to hear about your chemical pg

There are many reasons for chemical pgs. Bearing in mind that in a couple with no fertility issues who time sex perfectly will only become pregnant 20% of the time. Sometimes there is a problem with the embryo, either a chromosomal issue from egg or sperm, or a cell division problem after fertilisation. Sometimes there is an implantation problem. Without close monitoring many women will never know they had a chemical pg.

My RE sees chemical pgs as far more predictive of a positive outcome than a BFN. You may just have been unlucky this time

As far as the FSH is concerned there are many women who have successful pregnancies with levels far higher than yours. Here is a useful link with success stories http://www.highfsh.org/

Wishing you lots of luck for future cycles
