Hi, there! This is my first time ever IVF . I love reading about success stories, so I hope more of you ladies will update your status. It helps to be positive.
About me-- I'm 44, never been pregnant. TTC since 2009. DH is 50, has a son from previous marriage, but now has male IF issues. I had endometriotic cysts on both ovaries which were removed 4 years ago. I had HSG which revealed a blocked right tube.
I'm on stims right now (antagonist protocol), and I hope to trigger in about 6 days. I've been reading a lot about how some of us AMA's are still getting pregnant, and I think it's just awesome!
I'm trying to do everything-- high protein diet (lots of eggs, well, at least 2 a day), DHEA, acupuncture, massage (anything to de-stress), no cold water, coffee, soda, and mild-mod exercise. I've been reading up on other posts regarding Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and although I have never consulted anyone, I'm trying to follow some of the suggestions by other ladies.
Let's talk about our meds, our symptoms, our moods, and especially the BFP's! That gives me hope that this is possible for me too.![]()

Hi Whitney! Glad to meet you

I'm just really trying to keep a positive outlook, considering all the stressors I have in my life right now. It's not easy, and that's why I'm here and looking to other women going through the same stuff, who need positive vibes, who can give hope to others who are feeling less than positive. I'm a newbie to all this, and it's all exciting but worrisome at the same time.
Anyway, I'm on antagonistic protocol. My doc has me on Menopur 75u, Bravelle 300u, Dexamethasone 0.5mg 1 tab, and I just started Omnitrope 0.2cc/day 2 nights ago. I will also be on Cetrotide and then Ovidrel for trigger. I'm deathly afraid of POI because it's IM route and painful, and my DH can't be relied upon to give it to me, so I'm going to have to grow some balls by next week so I can do it to myself... yikes!
So, one week of the above meds, I had my US this morning and he told me that I might have to stim for another week and hopefully trigger next week. So...not that great, but not bad either. I kinda knew that my eggs were not ready yet cuz I haven't really felt any discomfort/pain a lot of women feel when they're almost ripe for "harvesting"
Sorry for babbling on but thanks for asking. How about you? What are you on and how are you doing?

Hi Mich.... I'm a success story. I was on the same protocol. I did a fresh cycle in March, which was a BFN, but went right into a frozen cycle and am pregnant with triplets! Dont be afraid of the IM shots, they actually dont hurt, sometimes a little pinch, but I found them less painfl then the stims!! Good Luck!

That's great! Thanks for letting me know. I'm guessing that there aren't many success stories out there, otherwise, there would be more posts here. I know it's not easy, but I need to do this with my own eggs. It would indeed be a miracle, nothing less, when this happens to me.
So I did the ER last wednesday, and my RE retrieved 5 eggs from my left ovary. I know... not a whole lot. But considering that my right ovary had a cyst, I am thankful that I had 5-- they were all mature
The embryologist emailed me the photo, and I thought they were beautiful!
Today is the 3rd day and the embryologist emailed me the photos before freezing them. Only 4 made it
but they're still beautiful. I don't know what grade yet (they'll mail me the full report on Monday). I just hope they survive the thaw...
I'll be doing the ET next month...hopefully my uterus will be cooperative
Thanks for the hope, nursemeow!

inertia -- That's awesome! Great to know 40 something eggs still have it in them
I can't wait til I get to do my FET in about 3 more weeks. I'm waiting for my AF so I can start preparing myself for the transfer.
nyc76-- I'm trying to stay positive and relaxed, although sometimes it can still be a nerve-wrecking experience. You're truly blessed
Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. I'm looking forward to the day when I can be a success story too

Hi there!
I'm so glad to find someone post-40 that's doing IVF with their own eggs and succeeding! I just turned 39 about 2 months ago and we're now dealing with the 'age factor' and turning to a donor...so I love to hear success stories after 40. You results are incredible (no matter what age) and I hope to hear you're doing well. We had 2 IVF rounds that yielded one egg each time, but no success. However, I have several family members that started in their early/mid-40's and they had children naturally, so I know it's possible!
Please, keep updating this post. It gives a lot of us hope!Me-39 (DOR)
