We're going into our 3rd (and probably final) IVF this July and I've been thinking about this for a little while but would like some idea's. DH has been to the Boom Boom Room for 3 IUI's, 3 IVF's and 2 or 3 SA's and his complaint is the same: the selection of viewing material sucks. It gets the job done, but it isn't to his taste. What IS to his taste is ME. Even though I've got a few extra pounds, he adores my body, so I was thinking about making him a special package of pictures, or a sexy movie or something...He just likes simple stuff, pretty bra's and panties, so I wouldn't have to go overboard with props.
Have any of you done this? I'd like to think that our potential baby had SOME lust and love thrown in there somewhere...
Or is this completely weird and I'm a pervert.
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

Hi Ali I think that's a great idea if you've got the cahones to do it. There are lots of photographers who will do what's called a boudoir shoot. That sounds like all you need. But if you really want maybe you could make a little movie for him to play on his phone or something.
I know my DH has commented that with the expense involved in all this they could really use an upgrade from VHS at my clinic!Me: 35 DH:37 : Dx male factor = IVF with ICSI : TTC #1 since 2009
May 2011 IVF #1 = BFN
Sept. 2011 IVF #2 = BFP! Twin Boys! ... Loss @ 20 weeks 3 days

Alicia--You are so funny, the boom boom room
I think it is super thoughtful that you are thinking about your husband and sure, go for it if you can! My poor hubs will be headed for the boom boom room I hope one final time in Aug/Sep and for the amount we're paying for this donor cycle, there had better be live dancers in there.

I didn't do this for his donation to our fresh cycle, though I wish I had. But, I did it once when I was going down for an FET and he wasn't able to come for the few days before the transfer. I put my pics on an online computer and left him an email of how to get to them. I told him it was a preview and then I wore the same outfit the night before our transfer. It wasn't anything fancy either. I just bought something new and took the pics myself using my timer on my camera. He really liked and appreciated it. He still looks at them sometimes. Have fun making "memories."

Oh my gosh, this is such a nice and thoughtful idea!! My DH also commented on how outdated the material in that room was! And being one who is not very shy about anything, he actually called the RE and asked if the doc could supply some "fresh" material, perhaps something from the 80's and above! AND HE DID IT!! The RE ditched the old beta player and installed a DVD/VHS player with new movies and mags! DH says that the only thing that is still kinda wierd in there is a leopard-skin beanbag chair. Guess that is supposed to creat a "mood" or something!
Anyway, good for you!!

Brad (DH) said the BBR (Boom Boom Room) was so sanitized...good for them being clean and all, but it smelt like bleach. How many of us could get off with bleach in our nose? Maybe I should include something that smells like me too, something pretty. I was thinking of taking pics myself. I have a wireless remote for my camera, so I could easily take hundreds of pictures and narrow it down to a nice slide show with maybe music too? I was thinking about calling my RE (and by RE, I mean nurses) and see what they can do to accommodate this. Otherwise I was just going to bring my computer and line him up with a file to look at. He'd (literally) burst if I did this. I'm not shy, but he really likes these types of surprises. And because it's a freeze all on the boy-juice, I would love it if he has a special memory when he knows I'm at ET and he's back at work a thousand miles away.
BC-Heather I'm shocked you did this for DH...but with some of the comments you've made...you have a happy man!
Heatherfla: I'm not sure, but perhaps you could ask if Vegas showgirls are included in your package. Something...a little...never mind, I was going to go to a place where I'd get banned.
I wish these RE's would get with the program and try to include wives into the BBR! We know that you can't use Astro glide or K-Y...that Pre-Seed is the only lube you can use (or, gross, egg whites)...We know saliva is bad...so why can't they make it more lovey-dovey or sexy when all of this is SO clinical? It would be a nice break, right before the ET, to have a special time with my husband. Not sex. Just some, teenager, back seat stuff
I hope this isn't too TMI, but after ALL the shots, I'd like to feel a little connected to Brad. I already feel like it takes a village to conceive a child. Never mind candles...no wait! I WANT candles!! get the wickless ones that don't burn, and some Barry White before I pass out from prohypnol. A drink?? Ok, scratch the drink. But some music would be nice...I'm brining my iPod! And dirty pictures of me!
I'm going to call the nurses tomorrow and see what I can get away with. I'll post when I get some answers.
BC-Heather: are you doing the July board? I'm for sure (really for sure) cycling in early July, baseline around July 9th. Along with everything (meaning blessings and you know how my blessings work
), I also have gotten my entire monitoring for free ($750)...I found out yesterday...the billing lady approved it! So this cycle, out of pocket (no insurance!) is less than $700 for everything, ER/ET, meds, monitoring, anesthesia...everything. I think my baby is ready to come to my family (I guess it's *our* baby, but whatever).

Ali - Too funny! You are right though sort of. You know, we are conservative Christians. So, I suppose it would be somewhat out of character, although I don't see it that way. We don't engage in the types of materials found in the room, together or separate. However, we are perfectly happy to enjoy each other in whatever way we see fit in the privacy of our marriage.
I don't know why I didn't think to do it for our fresh cycle. I really wish I had. Anyway, it was fun to do for him. I said I didn't go all out, just bought a new outfit, but it was a "fancy" little outfit. No props, just me, but it was definitely more than I wear on a normal day.
Yes, I'm doing the July group. That is awesome about the cost of your cycle. I'm excited for you and happy to support you as you finish this IF journey...hopefully with the baby you dreamed of! I'll be starting the group toward the end of May.

The more I'm thinking, the more writing a book navigating through IVF and retaining your sanity would be a great idea! Including making a little something special for DH when he has to do his business!
I'll bet your husband thinks you are the most amazing woman on the planet!
Yes, I am beyond thankful with how this next cycle is coming together with so little out of pocket expense. God knows what we can afford and what $$ numbers stress both of us. I hate to project, but things that fall together so easily tend to be the exact road you're supposed to take. I'm really peaceful about this cycle and glad it's been put off a few months. In the beginning, when the month was April, I really wasn't excited about it. I didn't feel ready, but July feels like when it's supposed to happen.
I am SO glad you're the July BC!! I'll keep an eye out for the thread. I hope we have some great ladies along for the ride
