My 3rd ivF I had 11 eggs and 2 fertilized normally. This time I had 6 eggs with 1 fertilizing normally. The embryologist said she didn't know why- which makes me wanna jump threw the phone and shake her.
Any causes? Is it just bad eggs?

if you weren't 34 i would say eggs, but i guess it is possible. My advice would probably to do one more ivF, but with donor sperm( or at least half with donor sperm) and see what happens, if you have the same kind of issue of fertilization then you know what the problem is, not sperm but eggs, b/c you are dealing with sperm issues, i would still think that is the issue, or it is a LAB issue..... i would probably go ahead with CCRM as they seem to have the best results with fertilization and recruiting eggs, they just some how do it better than everyone else.
They will also give you an "opinion" of why you low fertilization rates.... have you guys done the fragmentation test on the sperm or checked for y-chromosome deletion?

Thanks Jenga. If we were advised to use donor sperm or donor eggs, we would go with adoption instead.
We have not done either of those tests on DH sperm.
Thank you again for the response! I am so devastated right nowMe (35) Balanced Translocation

Tense, please let us know how things go. I wish you all the best.
If you do end up looking at adoption, I would love to hear your thoughts about how to get started. I have also thought about adoption, but the wide array of information on the internet is just overwhelming. The waiting periods people are talking about seem so long...Me (35), DH (35), "unexplained" IF

How are your AMH levels tenseintexas ? I wouldn't think age 34 necessarily would mean poor eggs. It may just be an individual thing ?
How are you about trying to get a second opinion?... just a thought.

If I remember correctly fertilization rate is related to sperm quality. It is pretty wierd that the embryologist couldn't give you any idea of what could possibly be happening. I would talk with your RE. Maybe he/she could give you some ideas. I know it's hard but don't lose hope.

Their favorite saying this time seems to be " unlucky" and "I don't know". She said she thought more my eggs than anything else-- that was the RE- the embryologist said she didn't know----(aghghghhghghghghfh!!!!
My husband talked with the RE today. My RE has called me twice today nd I could not answer. I am too upset.Me (35) Balanced Translocation

I am so sorry to hear that. I wish I had some answers for you but I don't. I will say some prayers for you. Didn't you say that you had one that fertilized? It only takes one for a miracle!
