Those crazy horomone stories
So... sometimes you either need to laugh or cry when you're dealing with IF. I decided to start a thread where we can all share our crazy/silly/funny/embarassing stories that these crazy horomones or IVF process has given us. Sometimes you just need to laugh at yourself...
![]() I'll start... ![]() On my first IVF round, I was all sorts of horomoned up. I had just finished supression with Lupron & was on Follistim, Low Dose Lupron, Micro HCG, antibiotics, etc... Here is where my story starts... We have a small room at the back of our house that only opens to the outside. It's where we keep lawnmower & other tools. I was looking for something & went to the room. Two of my dogs were following me. I opened the door & suddenly my one dog starts thrashing around. I look at him & realize he's got a yellow jacket trying to attack him. He's very furry so it was in his fur & burrowing toward his skin. I battled that little bugger for a minute or two & finally got him off my dog... and he went after my other dog. Pulled him off & smooshed him. I forgot about what I was looking for & went back into the house. Told DH we must have a yellow jacket nest in the back yard somewhere. (For those that don't live in area with yellow jackets, they're NASTY little bees. Only they don't drop stinger & die when they sting... they sting repeatedly and let off a horomone that attracts other yellow jackets so if one gets you, look out... others are coming! And they live in the ground so they're very good at hiding. DH ran over a nest with lawnmower once & got bit so many times I thought I was going to have to take him to hospital!) ![]() Back to story... So the next day, I was looking again for whatever it was and again went down to the outdoor room... no dogs this time. I was eating a lick-um-aid (candy stick you dip in powdered sugar). Yellow jackets are highly attracted to sugar, but I'd forgotten about them by now. I stood in that little room for about 20 minutes ... finished my candy... never found what I was looking for. And then went back inside. My DH went down to that little room about 10 minutes later to look for item. He came bursting back inside. He said the room was full of yellow jackets & they started attacking him. ... meanwhile I'm standing there watching. No yellow jacket will come within 5 feet of me. Man! I must have been radiating horomones! LOL! Looking back now I had been in that room with Yellow Jacket bait in my hands & none would come near me. I knew these horomones were scary, but so scary that those little buggers were scared is some serious stuff!!!

Lol! Who knew!? Those things are scary! My boss got attacked by a bunch and her arm looked like Popeye's after.
I remember hearing the many stories about how stims can make you irritable or moody. I didn't experience that until my 3rd cycle. I was taking Follistim, Menopur, and Ganirelix. My DH is a musician and he is always playing his guitars, singing, and using various objects as "drums" at home. I usually find it entertaining but was getting VERY bothered by it about 6 days into my cycle. One evening, I was curled up on the couch, warm and stim-exhausted watching tv. He was in the computer room above our tv room stomp stomp stomping his feet on the floor. Stomp stomp stomp stomp. The sound echos in the room below where I was and it’s loud. I was getting a little aggravated because I was trying to watch (and hear) the tv. I then hear tap tap tapping on the desk and the many objects on the desk. Tap tap tap tap, stomp stomp stomp stomp. I call up to him to stop. Of course he was wearing his headphones and couldn't hear me and meanwhile I couldn’t hear the tv so I turned it up (really loud because I was becoming more and more irritated and it was my passive way to send him a message). He then started singing (Guns and Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and yes he can hit those notes), and stomp stomp stomping, and tap tap tapping his "drums".

Time: early august 2009
About a week into my lupron with ivf #1 We have a large pond and I have been trying to keep ducks on it, but have had pretty bad luck because of all the predators around here. I hand raised about 8 baby ducks in spring of 08' and by the fall, all but 1 were gone. I would wake up in the mornings, go down to the pond and find feather remains. ugh! The ONE mallard i had left was attacked by a snapping turtle and died this spring. So when i got my 10 new ducks this year, my husband decided we were going to do whatever it took to keep them alive. After the first one disappeared, we put out a livetrap to catch whatever it was. My husband thinks it was a baby bobcat, but who knows. A few days after setting the trap on the woodline, I was leaving for work and went by to check it. The plan was to release whatever we caught on our land about 15 miles away. I saw some movement and walked over to find a small raccoon stuck in the cage and he was crying away. It upset me SOOOOO bad. I started bawling my face off immediately. Then my first thought was that my husband would shoot it if he saw it. I couldnt figure out how to release the door to let him go. We had been having lots of rain and he was covered in mud. I screwed around with the thing for 10 minutes, and after i got my dogs worked up into a barking frenzy, my husband finally came outside to see what i was up to. As soon as i saw him, i started pleading " PLEASE dont kill him!?!" over and over and over. He looked at me like i was a lunatic and kept telling me over and over he wasnt going to kill it. I was having a BREAKDOWN and through the waterworks and begging, he finally had to grab my shoulders and yell at me that he wasnt gonna hurt it. When i finally got calmed down, he opened the door and the poor little creature ran into the woods! I got to the drs office that day and was all in a tizzy over something soo silly!

I'm finding that I get very teary over songs that never used to bother me at all. I'm on my way to work singing along and then suddenly the tears start and all my eye makeup goes to hell. I'm not unhappy, just crying! Have taken to carrying the makeup bag in the car and do it once I get to work!
