A friend who is pregnant through IVF told me that you cannot run if you become pregnant with IVF. Is this accurate?

I agree with Erin. And, if you're a runner than you're a runner. Not something you should start once pregnant but (if your doctor approves) if it is something you regularly do then it is okay. I see pregnant women running often.

Well, my RE and acupuncturist both told me to stop all exercise during the 1st trimester because IVF is considered a "High Risk" pregnancy until the 2nd trimester. Trust me, I was way too tired and bloated to feel like doing anything anyway. However, different REs have different standards.

When you do ivf, it is very common that your ovaries will swell in size from the stimulation drugs. It is not advisable to run while they are swollen, as you put them at risk of torsioning which is very dangerous. Once they settle down I would think running would be okay, if you were a runner previously. But not while they are swollen.

Logically, I would agree with you. But, she was adament that her doctors said you could not run if you did IVF throughout your pregnancy due to the risk of miscarriage. I just didn't know if this was a common stance with REs.
