lisette, trinity, andika: guess i should of explained better we were/are doing PGD so 3 eggs were not enough to do that with(cost) so RE recommended that we do another cycle and PGD them all together...of the 3 eggs retrieved 1 looked bad right away but all 3 fertilized 2 were abnormal and 1 is frozen.. i am hoping that this cycle was just a bust and that there are no underlying issues with me. i am 28, never conceived and no known issues until this happened...i am very afraid that there is something that we dont know about but RE said that sometimes younger girls like me dont respond that well to the long protocol and do much better on the short- i PRAY that this is me!

sbing: ty for explaining. that makes sense to me now. by short protocol, do you mean without bcp? i wish i could find this article for you to read. it was published on an RE's site as to why it doesn't work everytime. he had a lady in her early 30's in there, she was doing pgd to get a girl. she had 4 boys all on her own, no problems, so she had something like 11-14 eggs, and only 4 of them were normal. point being, i don't think that every egg, even if you have nothing wrong with you, is perfect. that gave me some perspective because i don't produce a lot of eggs, and i only had 3 fertilize and had all 3 transferred and it didn't work. i had a hard time dealing with that, since i thought because all 3 were 8 cells, A quality, and i had a picture (i think that makes it worse when it doesn't work), and was devastated when it didnt work. here's hoping to a short protocol BFP cycle!

    sbing-why are you doing pgd?

sngray-9 follies with pcos is not that much! I had 24 or something like that on my 1st try!

alexi-I too stopped caffeine, and I know sweetener isnt good, so using sugar instead.otherwise just trying to eat well, no junk food, chocolate and all. I do drink a glass of wine here and there if we go out or have guests, but its rare. and I am not doing any sports for now. not until I am in the clear-around 12 weeks or so.
    btw-you are british? me too!
well tanzania is developing quickly now, when we arrived it was still very much the real black africa, now there are a few smaller shopping malls-nothing exclusive, and a few nice restaurants and all. I guess tanzania is well known for zanzibar- a beautiful exotic island just 10 minutes flight from us, and the kilimanjaro mountain-the highest peak in africa. we live in a beautiful peninsula, overlooking the indian ocean, but life is hard, basic things are hard to get, so when we travel we come back packed up with things to last us the next few months. and its a very expensive place. and hot. but the people are calm and nice-I think the nicest on the continent. crime is low-though we have had our share of it (that why we got moustique, our boerboel). well its nice but hey will we be happy to go back home afterwards!

sheisa-the worst thing about ET is the full bladder. the rest is really nothing! do tell your Re tomorrow that you arent feeling so well, so that he can see if you are risking ohss and that he tells you what to do if it gets worse!

yes, i am doing an antagonist cycle which means no lupron and also no birth control for me. my first cycle i was on lupron for around 20 days before starting stims and RE thinks that maybe i was a lil oversuppressed because when we did my baseline i had ~15 AFC and they were worried about me hyperstimming and the opposite happened. i was devasted after the retrieval when he only retrieved 3 eggs(he expected 7-8 "good quality" bc of my age he said) the other follicles were "empty". he assured me that it was too early for me to think that there was something wrong with me and said that a change in protocol may be what i need. he said he gets about 30 patients a year around my age with similar result. my dh has 3 kids from past relationship and the reason we are doing IVF is because since he had his kids years ago he developed low sperm so i know he is capabale of producing kids but no sure about me right now! I am so sorry that your cycle didnt work, i cant imagine how devasted you were, especially when your embryo were such great quality. i bet you do become attached to the pics of your embabies thanks for the story about that lady, it makes me feel so much better when i hear these things! so is this your second cycle? are you changing your protocol?

Sorry I have been MIA, it has been hectic at work and I have been putting in overtime to componsate for the time off for FT. I will catch up later with everyone but I have a question I hope someone could answer.

If ER is Wed April 8, when would 3 day ET and 5 day ET be? For a 3 day I would be guessing Sat Apr 11 and if I make it to 5 days it should be Mon April 13th? Am I right about this or am I off by a day?

I am leaving for out of town as soon as work is off today.I will write back later tomorrow after I am off work and let everyone know how my treatment is going. It is hard to write at work without being caught.

I hope everyone is doing good and sorry I don't have personals for now.

    Misty- Good luck!

Andika- My 9 follies were for an IUI cycle. I was taking less than half the Gonal F that they have prescribed for this IVF cyce. I guess that is why the worry? I think the nurse it just a bit bonkers. Tanzania sounds so cool! Are you able to post any pictures? DH has been trying to get a job overseas for about a year now. We want to see the world!

Lisette- I have been with my RE and this nurse for 7 years now. We've been successful in the past and just want more. I think this is why the nurse doesn't like me, she thinks I should be done already. None of her beeswax though as far as I am concerned!

sbing: 2nd cycle and last cycle for me. doing antagonist protocol, which i am excited about. doing gonal F and cetrotide, but will know more on saturday i think. AF should be here any day. after 2 years of treatment, i have never gotten the AFC so i will get that maybe on sat if that is my CD2 baseline. i will be curious to see what they say i have in there.

andika: i didn't know you r a brit! dh is one too. gotta love the accent; however, even though he still has it, i don't notice it too much. everyone else does. please tell me you don't eat marmite! *cringe*
