Lupron
Just curious if anyone else got bad bruises with Lupron? I have been taking it for just over a week now and really have had no problems, but the other night, as soon as Dh gave me my shot, I started bleeding. It bruised almost instantly and it's still really ugly looking. It's a little tender still and raised.

Bruising after a blood draw or injection is from it bleeding under the skin. When he removes the needle, make sure he puts a lot of pressure on the injection site. That should stop any bruising from occuring.

I also get some bruising from the Lupron injections. I thought it was from using baby aspirin. I know that if I do it standing up, I usually bleed or bruise, if I sit or lay, I get less. Also putting pressure on it helps after. Good luck and hang in there. I would walk around with 2 black eyes if I could get pregnant LOL!

I get bruising as well, but it is not consistently. I would say about half of the time. Always the same technique. Thorough cleansing with alcohol pad, smooth and easy insertion and somewhat slow injection, quick removal of needle, a quick pressure swipe with alcohol pad again. Same as I do for all of my patients who require any type of injection. It is due mostly in part to the abdomen being very vascular. This area is made this way so that when we grow our bellies for our babies, the skin can stretch appropriately and not be compromised. There are lots of little capillaries and even with the small amount that is injected, it can cause enough pressure in the area to rupture one. This is absolutely nothing to worry about. Even if you draw back before injecting you probably would get no blood show. So long story short, don't worry for one second about it. And remember, in the long run, this is cake. I agree with das1972, bruises, black eyes its all good.

It's been awhile since I have injected Lupron, but I do remember once that I must of injected it in a blood vessel and it popped...the bruise was huge and raised and it HURT. I called all frantic to the 24hr line...in short it was no big deal at all.
