Nancy Grace

My mom just told me that Nancy Grace announced she is 3 months pregnant with twins at age 48. I am curious if she will be 'fessing up to any fertility treatments. My mom said that basically Nancy said she got married spur of the moment (secretly) 3 months ago and boom! now she is pregnant with twins. I had to give her a little lesson in the biology of fertility and tell her there is about a 0% chance those babies are from Nancy's eggs. Someone said she will be talking about it tonight on her show, so I will be watching.

I will be watching too! There is no way in God's green earth that it was a "surprise". I did hear that her fiancee was murdered a month before they got married and that is how she got into the legal world.

I am of course JEALOUS.

Did she say anything?

The information I was able to get from on line this morning said that she is 47 not 48. Not a huge difference but still a difference. I just keep thinking that mom is only 2 (3) years older then she is. To me that is unfair. I know that my father is adopting a 3 year old right now (he is 51, 52 in Sept.) so I know I have a double standard but still.

I guess what I am really getting tired of is the people that do come forward with the IF issues are all older. And we all know that the Lindsey's and the Paris's of this world are just as likely (perhaps more likely if they are as promiscuous as we are led to believe) to have IF as is someone who is in their 40's.

Perhaps I am just frustrated about the lack of education out there about a serious threat to people that most don't find out about till they are in our shoes.

It was a pretty brief announcement, kind of wedged into the beginning of the show, so she didn't go into any detail at all. I guess time will tell if she will 'fess up or not. I usually believe that women have the complete right to keep any info about their fertility to themselves, but in her case, when she is always pushing people so hard for the truth and she will not allow people to dodge the real issue, I will have less respect for her if she does try to hide any fertility treatments. It would just seem hypocritical to me.

Yeah, she absolutely did IVF with DE. She has the right to her privacy, but she's doing a great disservice to people when she suggests that it was an "oops" at her age. What's crazy is that most people think such a thing is possible!

How do you all know that it's not her eggs? I hear of older women all the time getting preggo in their forty's and there is an increased chance of multiples with higher age in women. I am like you all in that if she did IF treatments, she could really use her platform to educate people. But, I don't want to throw her under the bus and assume anything and be wrong....

When I first heard the news, I immediate thought it was DE but SKR has a point...didn't Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives have twins at 44. She did use IVF but they were her own eggs. Of course the cynic in me believes that Nancy used DE at 47. I'm 39 and I've been told for 2 1/2 years that my eggs are no good and doctors have given me a 1 in 10 chance of getting pregnant with a chromosonally normal egg. This was no "oops". Hey, didn't Holly Hunter also have a baby in her 40's and she never admitted to using DE. I guess everyone is entitled to their privacy but just think of how much exposure they could give to IF that could benefit others and enlighten those that have no clue about the hardships.

My aunt had her last baby at the age of 47, that baby is now 39. And it was an oops pregnancy. I also know of another woman who went thru IF tx had a baby at the age of 42 and told her RE that she is old to have a baby...and her RE told her that she is young and that his sister was 52 when she had an oops pregnancy. So I do believe it can happen. Anything is possible.

There are also women that I've known that were thought to be going thru "the change" and got pregnant! I can't imagine that happening! But it does happen. It will be interesting to see what Nancy says about this in the future!
