High Fever, help needed (preg ment)

I need help!
My temperature got up to 101.9F, I called my RE he said to take Tylenol and drink liquids. I also took a cool bath to try to lower it. It has been well over 2 hours and my temp has gone down to 100.2, but is now increasing again! I am freaking out due to the risk of neural tube defect. Any help??? Either to lower temperature or just kind words of experience/assurance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

pg/baby/mc mentioned

Hi,

Are you sick?

My history if it helps: i had IVF in 20001 and had a high fever and felt it was due to PIO... when I was taken off it after only 2 shots fever went down within a few days and baby born 9 mnths. later. I also had fever after IVF 1 yr ago and same thing fever and Re would not take me off PIO fever never subsided and m/c at 8 weeks. I have no idea if fever had anything to do with the m/c. You can have b/w done to see if you have a high wbc and need antiobiotics ... their are safe ones to take with pg and I would take care of it. I was told a fever is only a fever when over 101. Anyhow... get a CBC ASAP. It can't hurt and many positive thoughts for you.

Sorry you are unwell You are doing the right thing by taking tylenol, cool baths and keeping hydrated. Apart from that if it isnt going down you must speak to your Doc again, at least for him to reassure you anyway.

I did have a temp during my 2ww due to a blocked parotid saliva gland...it wasnt overly high too (same as yours) but I freaked out. Was told to do paracetamol (tylenol) and took amoxicillin...that cycle resulted in the birth of my DS.

Hope you feel better soon.

ReadyAgain: yeah, I am sick. I am achy, sore throat, and fever. Sorry to hear about your m/c. I am assuming that you are here because you are trying again. If so, good luck!

KayJay, thank you for the comforting message.

Fever has finally subsided, after another increase at 1am and needing 2 more tylenol! I am still achy and now fearful of nueral tube defects in my unborn child. The stress never ends when you are going through IF treatments. I have b/w tomorrow morning and will ask RE about this at that time.

Again, thank you for the positive thoughts and help.

Glad the fever has subsided. No you are right....the stress never ends. I recently had a severe bout of diarrhea (and another slight temp)....was so sure it was listeria or something sinister I picked up whilst in Spain...and when I researched the net it was just full of scary stories. I was convinced it was going to effect my unborn child. Fortunately the tests came back negative.

My doc told me that the babies are pretty tough and our bodies are designed to protect them from the normal hazzards of life as a human being.

Keep me updated, I will keep everything crossed for you but I feel it will be ok.

Take care
