Does anyone know why you take both estrogen and progesterone in the 2ww and continue after BFP. Obviously, a natural pregnancy does not need this - do we?

Because you don't ovulate...when a woman ovulates, the little area where the eggie pops out makes something called a corpus luteum. That puts out the prog necessary to sustain an early PG. Since we don't O, but have our eggs retrieved instead...there is no corpus luteum, so we need to have supplements until the placenta takes over in the late first tri. As far as estrogen, not sure...it's another PG hormone we need.
