RE recommends 3 ERs before FET. Anyone else?

Help! I have done 2 IVF/ICSI, 1st w/ no viable embies (all 4 complex abnl per PGD), 2nd with 2 midgrade blasts and no implant. RE now recommends doing 3 stim/ER cycles back to back and freezing all fert embies at 2PN--then thawing all at once before FET. Has anyone done this before? I trust my RE and can see how it might be productive, but would love to hear from someone who has done/heard of this done.

    Thanks!

sassy- I personally don't see the logic in that...maybe I am missing something... I know that some people respond better to FET and if you have frozen embies then why NOT????? It is CHEAPER and EASIER on your body!!!

I hope that there is someone else on here who might have some more insight to educate me on why you should do the 3 ER first

I know that IVF stats are better than FET...so I'm sure your chances are just as good or better to do another IVF.....you should be given the choice hun.

I have heard of doing this for women who do not make a lot of eggs, or who don't make a lot of genetically normal eggs. The intention is to be able to have more embryos to choose from, be able to put back more good quality embryos.

It makes a lot of sense to me in your situation.

BTW I had my embryos frozen at 2pn stage, of the 9 we thawed all 9 survived and continued to grow. The thaw rate from 2pn is better than the thaw rate from day 3 or blast.

    My Mood
    Cool
Done 4 fresh cycles (with 2 bio chemical pg)
Done 3 FET (2 in between and the last one I GOT PG!!)

The stats depends on the clinic at SIVF (in Sydney they almost have the same sucess) so you should ask your RE about the stats. Here is Quebec is sucks the FET success(they have almost no blast succes thawing) they thought that my dd was a miracle she is really special but not because of FET success!

    Good luck with your decision

Thank you, thank you, thank you guys! I appreciate the feedback. Poppan--per what you said, it DOES sound like it would be beneficial for us. Caro2--Congrats on your dd-- nice to hear people ACTUALLY do get pg doing this . Per my RE, their FET rates are actually sl. HIGHER then fresh ET. You girls made me feel more confident about our decision.

That's why this forum is great. Thanks!

    poppan-

when your RE thawed all 9 and all 9 survived and continued to grow... how many were transfered? did they re-freeze the rest?

    thanks.

    Hi Juls,

Out of my 9, three were grade I (best grade), three were grade II, three were grade III. We transferred the three grade I's and cultured the rest. One of the six remaining ones made it to a "good quality" day 6 blast. (IIRC I had another one make it to blast but it was poor quality.) We refroze the one good blast.

did your RE have any concerns about refreezing? i have a feeling that we will be doing the same, if we have any to refreeze and i just wasn't sure about doing that..

Juls -- No, RE didn't seem to have any concerns about refreezing... I have heard of other people doing it too, I guess if they survive the first thaw and keep growing, freezing a second time doesn't necessarily make it worse? I really don't know though, I didn't really look into it, just went with what they said...
