Dr. Amato at Baylor School of Medicine?

Hi Ladies,

Sorry to barge in here. I have been posting on the military issues board but it looks like we have to move to the civilian route.

I am looking for information about Dr. Amato at BCM. I met with her briefly and didn't get a great feeling. I have had two prior failed IVF cycles and she said she would follow the same protocol as the last time and expect the same results from me. The main reason we went to Houston (we are from San Antonio) is because we have severe MF and I thought Dr. Lipshultz could help us. However, all he recommended is to do a fresh cycle where he would retrieve sperm and do the ICSI but he also recommended donor back up. I'm not sure if I feel this is a worthwhile option for us. Has anyone else used Dr. Amato?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Wow -- I live in San Diego and did several IUI cycles (she wasn't doing IVF yet) with her back in 1998 that sounds like a long time ago! I remember how excited she was to get the opportunity at Baylor...

I don't have any "real" advice, but ICSI can take care of most MF issues. We started out thinking we only had MF (slightly decreased motility), but after 3 fresh failures (and both still <30), it started looking more like an egg quality issue. We finally found the right protocol...

Hang in there,
Meg
