I am delayed for IVF for the second consecutive month because my day 3 baseline E2 was too high. The new protocal would be to begin Lupron on CD 21 and no BCP. I asked if we could try IUI while waiting and then start lupron and do the pg test as soon as i can. They said lupron would not hurt if I was pg. I am just so tired of waiting - does this idea sound insane???

No
Because that way you are doing something. A feeling I can totally relate to!!!
And you at least have given it a shot with the IUI. '
But I do IUI alternating with IVF and I was told by my RE that really I'm wasting time and money because ........
I need the gametes to be put together and that isn't happening with IUI and I am still stimulating my ovaries and not giving them a rest to recuperate.
So as of this last IUI I'm going to straight IVF and leaving the lower stats of IUI behind.
But, I did it twice cause I couldn't stand to miss a cycle!!!!
Hope that helps and best of luck.

fry-dont you have a cyst? I had high e2las t fresh, and it was because of a cyst, the took out my cycst, e2 went down, and next day started stimming, and it all went on to a perfect cycle. if your RE didnt suggest an ultrasound 2 months in a row, I would insist on it or even get a second opinion- there is something causing that high e2!usually its a cyst or ovulation-they can see that on u/s!!!

no cyst. They think I am just not suppressed enough and I am starting to have advanced follicular development. I was on BCP only both times - so no alternative drugs to control suppression. I have done IUI 5 times and two were successful but I miscarried both. knowing all this - do you think it is worth a try?

fry-my RE continues to supress me with lupron when E2 is high, like now after af I took lupron 2 weeks before my official baseline(he didnt even do a b/w after af)-so even though af was 2 weeks earlier my cycle counts as though I had af 2 weeks later. And my e2 was great this time, lh too. ask him about taking lupron for next week then have a bl test, and it should lower. how much was your E2? and prog an LH?

I tried to ask. I have never been on lupron. My day 3 e2 was 130ish and then I was retested at day 5 and it was 124. They would just delay me another cycle. I am going to talk with a new doctor on tuesday because I am frustrated.

I think you should see someone else. lupron would work for you I am sure. your e2 isnt that high-I think 1 week of lupron would put it down. I think sometimes you have to take things in your own hands, and tell your RE look I heard this works, why dont you want to try it for me? I dont want to wait!! I mean what do they care one month more or less for them, but for us its eternity. And did you have any testing after 2 m/c? there must be some reason for it. I definately think a second opinion and maybe even changing REs is a good idea, I think your RE isnt aggressive enough in his decisions- after all this is an experimental medicine still but if he doesnt experiment what might work for you, it will never work! 5 iuis!!! Here after 3 you automatically go to ivf. You might get pg- but the point is to stay pg! And I dont think your Re is doing a good job at finding out why that doesnt happen. I hope you dont my being honest, but after so many years and at my 3rd RE, I can say sometimes moving on to a different place helps.

Fry- I really think you should get a second opinion. Was there a reason you weren't on lupron to begin with?

I have an appointment on tuesday with another dr. There is no reason I wasnt on Lupron. All they did for the second time is increase the amount of BCP - from the pill to the ortho evra patch
