I just completed my cycle and had a cyst as well. It depends on the size of the cyst. Mine was big, but not THAT big. My RE had me do and MRI and take the ca-125 blood test to r/o ovarian cancer. When both tests came back OK, he put me on Lupron for 2 weeks and then rechecked. It was the exact same size. He cleared me to start stimming anyway. I definitely had less follies on my left ovary as a result. I'm trying not to worry about that because everything went pretty well anyway. So- depending on size, you can either wait, aspirate, or cycle with it. Eithier way, it will be aspirated during retrieval. Good luck!

I'm no expert on the subject, but from what I've seen on this board over time, I'm pretty confident to say that you'll be fine.
What did you RE suggest, anyway?? Good Luck, Jackie |

Dulcinea,
How did that ivf cycle turn out? Number of eggs retrieved? I also wanted to know would you had rather cancel the cycle and try again next month or proceed with the cyst if you had to do it again? Thanks so much! Kris

Hi Dulcinea
Hi,
I think the physician is taking a wait and see approach. I made 30 eggs last time, with the cyst expecting 10-15. I'm in no hurry to move forward with a cycle that is starting off poorly. I will talk to my RE today after I recieve my estrogen BW results so that we can discuss that as well. I personally am leaning towards canceling the cycle. My doctors sorta have left me in limbo yesterday at the suppression check. Kris

I cycled with a cyst... it wasn't making hormones so RE said it was OK to cycle with it. It was on my left ovary and was about 40mm x 30mm -- not small but not gigantic. We ended up retrieving 13 eggs from my left ovary (the side with the cyst) and 14 from my right. So in my case the cyst didn't really seem to affect how I stimmed.

Hi Poppan,
I think you did really well with cycling with the cyst. I was wondering do you know the results from this cycle yet (BFP/BFN)? I noticed alot of studies suggested that the pregnancy rate was lower with a cyst. Not trying to worry you because some of the studies are old. Just trying to take in all the information I can. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Doctor on the estrogen BW. I'll post and let you know as soon as I know the results. Hopefullly it won't be making hormones like yours but I don't know at this point. Kris

pg mentioned
Hi Kris,
Yes actually I am 7 wks pg now and still have the cyst... RE drained it during retrieval but it filled back up with fluid (but it's smaller now -- around 20 x 30). AFAIK the ol' cyst is still hangin' out there. Weird huh? I got my cyst from clomid by the way. I was on the lowest dose -- 50mgs or whatever the unit is -- and still got a cyst. |

Hi Poppan and Everyone,
I got the estradiol results in. They said it was 37 and anything below 50 is considered normal. The cyst measures 3 cm. Poppan what would you do, would you move forward? I'm paying out of pocket so the money means alot. I think if something goes wrong in step one it's best to start over. What is everyone else's opinion of what you would do in my position? Kris
