Question for those of you who've had D&C before

    Hi girls,

I just recently had a d&c. After this first d&c I had complications cause I did not bleed out the excess I should of, so I got blood clots which got infected. So I had to be admitted to the hospital to get out the infection, and be on intraveneous antibiotics for two days.
It was scary, but Thank God the OBG got the infection out.

Anyway my question is, how long should I wait to do my FET? My OBG says ask my RE. And my RE says when you feel ready?!
Ok, so no straight answer from either one!!

I'm thinking to wait for 2 periods. But since I had complications, does that mean I should wait longer? OBG says everything looks fine now with me, and I can go back to regular activities.

    What do you think?

    Thanks for your input

Hi. First of all I am so sorry for your loss. I can honestly say i know the feeling. Before I even read that you were thinking 2 cycles before trying I was thinking the same thing. I definetely feel that if things are doing much better for you and oyu have two normal periods that you should go for it. Good luck.

Hello. I'm so sorry for your loss. I also had a D&C. Mine was on 6/8. I just got my period on 7/12 and was able to start bcp's today for my next cycle. My RE said it was o.k.and I personally could not wait to get started on my next cycle. Good luck to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. No one should have to go through this.

My RE told me that I had to have one normal AF after the D&C and then I could try again. We ended up waiting about eight months for personal reasons, but the RE saw no reason to wait. I got a normal AF exactly 28 days after the D&C.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I seem to recall reading on these boards that you may be more fertile right after a m/c. You may want to ask your RE about that before making your decision.

Of course, if you need the time to heal emotionally, that's very important. From a physical standpoint, I'm not sure waiting is necessary.

    Good luck!

Hi, I am so sorry for your loss and all the suffering you went through.

Our RE always advised us to wait one cycle before trying again. He sort of said this one cycle would flush any hormonal leftover in my body, so I'd start fresh.

But your RE gave good advice too. Whenever you feel ready is the best time for you to start again.

Praying your FET will be a success.

    Good Luck

    Hi hi

I was always told to wait one period after D&C or miscarrying.
Keep us posted on when your FET will be! I have a good feeling about that!

I was told to wait one or two cycles. I actually had to take provera to bump me into my cycle (it's been 52 days) and just started my bcp's for round #2. If you think you should wait for 2 cycles, then do it - you need to feel comfortable~ Good luck with your next cycle

    Hey girls!

thanks so much for your replies

My RE told me to come back in about 5-7 weeks, and that if I still didn't get my period he'd give me Provera to stimulate it to come.

Today I got my HCG results (had them tested to make sure they've gone down) and they are at 36.5 now.
I wonder how much longer they need to get to zero? The lab person says I should get it tested again in a week.

How long did it take your HCGs to get back down to zero?

    Hugs!!!

I would say yours should be back to zero any day now. I had ectopics with tube removal so I did not have to have mine checked. I do know that within 10 days a HPT was negative on me though. I know what it is like to go through a loss and I hope you can try again very soon and your dream comes true.
