I posted awhile back asking for success stories with poor embryo quality and didn't get much, so I wanted to post my own...
All of our embryos were highly fragmented (grade 3 on a scale of 1-3) and the doctor didn't give us much hope. We transferred four embryos at day three.
We got pg with twins and just had our 9 week u/s and everyone is doing great. I hope this helps people who get less than optimal results on embryo quality. I was a basket case worrying and now I realize that there is a lot doctors don't know!

Congratulations!! That is so wonderful!! It was weird how you just posted this cuz its exactly what I needed. I just did my e/r and we got 6 whopping eggs. Last IVF we got 16 but the quality wasnt all that great. We got a BFN on that cycle and then a BFP on the FET with 3 blasts but that ended in a m/c. I am really concerned about my egg quality this time around and wont know until tomorrow my fert. results etc but your post gives me hope. Do you have high fsh??? How old r u? My highest fsh was 10.6 but this cycle 9.9. The 10.6 cycle I got more eggs so who knows. I give up trying to figure it all out. Write back when you get a chance.

Hi Penny,
I am 33 and DH is 34. I have very low FSH (around 3) but low progesterone, and have had three miscarriages. My dr thought they were all hormonal (all were very early--around 5-6 weeks), but after the embryo quality report, we weren't sure. We were all taken aback by the embryo quality as he thought we would have very nice looking embryos. He told me today that we were going to be his new succcess story!
Anyway, I think there is a lot to this process that is not scientific. We did accupuncture during the transfer (20 min before and 30 min after) and I think that helps. I also think not stressing about things helps, although I was a wreck. Good luck with everything and keep me posted!

Preg ment
I didn't know the quality of my embryo's until today, when my RE released my records because I'm going to my first obgyn appointment this Thursday. I will be 9 weeks on Wednesday. We transferred 3 Grade 3 embryo's and two took. Unfortunately, one of the twins quit growing but the single babe is growing strong with a heartbeat of 174. Good luck to you, I think the quality doen't always mean everything. All life is a miracle, no matter how it's acheived.

Thank you both so much!! You made me feel a lot better about this whole thing!! Ill get my fert. report tomorrow and will let you know how it goes. I think you are right when you say its not all "scientific". I think in the end the good Lord decides and I can only hope He feels that our time is now and we are ready!!
God Bless you both!!

Thanks for the wonderful stories ladies! This is bound to give others hope (including myself) when things dont seem to be 'textbook'. Just goes to show that there isnt an exact science behind all of this and how wonderful the miracle of life is!

Thanks so much for this hope!! I transferred one embryo (not sure of the grade) that looked great, and then another that "didn't look so good" it was highly fragmented.. Well I'm not sure about how much, but the RE said the other was alot better looking...
Thats really kinda put a damper on my spirits this whole cycle, but we'll find out Monday if its true that it really doesn't count as much!
I'm am hoping that I can come back to this thread and also provide more truth to this!!
Thanks againAuty(26)

Congrats and thanks for sharing...it is soo great to hear your story. I had my ET on 5/15 and we transferred 3 embies 6 cell grade 2, 7 cell grade 3 and 5 cell grade 3. I have been soo sad, but now have hope hearing these success stories!! How many cells did your embies have?
