    ER & TESA same day

So DH and I will be going to the clinic together when we get to this point. Me for ER and Him for TESA. Do you think we should bring someone along to drive us home? If ER is as bad as HSG than I'll probably not want to drive and DH, well he's a big baby! It's a little ways off. Not starting first cycle till June but just something I've been wondering about, especially since we don't have plans to tell very many people what we're up to.

    Hi,

YES...bring along someone to drive you both home! You will still be recovering from your twilight sedation, and your DH will be in minor pain, so neither of you will be in any position to drive.

If you don't want to share the news with anyone, arrange for a cab or a shuttle service to drive you there then pick you up. It's one extra step, but if it will allow you to feel better about not telling, then it's worth it.

    Good luck!

It all depends upon whether he is having general or local anesthesia. My DH has a local anesthetic for his TESE and he has always been able to drive us home with no problem. Make sure he brings a bag of frozen peas to put on his scrotum.

Here's a funny story. On their way to their procedure, my friend and her DH stopped at the grocery store to buy some frozen peas. Her DH ran into the grocery store. When he returned to the car he told her that the checkout guy had seen the frozen peas and asked, "TESE?" Turns out her DH was only kidding!

DH and I just had it today and yes we needed a ride.

Cubanita- too funny! It really would be weird if anyone else knew (esp grocery clerk) what was going to happen with those peas! I doubt many folks have a clue what TESE/MESA is!

    Good luck!
