Cycle confusion

But, I'm still a spring chick.

I called the IVF nurse to figure out the tentative schedule due to my family travel situation(see separate post). And APPARENTLY the IVF nurse thinks I do estrace/prometrium, get AF, do 2 weeks of BCP, wait 4 days THEN start the Lupron/stims. But that puts me in the 2nd week of April starting stims and I thought the whole plan was to keep me out of the RE's vacation time. Also, she and I don't really know why I'd be on estrace and prometrium this month since AF finds me no matter what.

SOOOOOO, she's checking with the RE and getting back to me tomorrow.

Stay tuned for further details.

Emily

Emily that does sound odd. Prometrium brings on AF and if you already get her... what's the point. Unless they are trying to re-route your cycle so that you won't cycle over your RE's vacation. Could be?? :Confused But keep us posted for sure!!

I got my big packet of information from the IF clinic I'll be doing my IVF at. Of course, at the time I wasn't in my new house yet, so they sent it to my parents' and there it sits! It's killing me!!! I honestly considered jumping in my car and driving back into town to get it! LOL But, I guess this is just another test of patience and I'll have to wait until I see her tomorrow night! LOL

Also I have a couple of IVF book suggestions. The first I HIGHLY recommend and am giving to my friend who's doing IVF right after me. She was one of my best friends in high school and we've stayed in touch. They just found out a couple months ago that her dh had a really bad SA. A few docs later and they tell them their only option is IVF. She's going to the same doc as me, so she's doing the wait and see game. I'll go thru my cycle and then she'll do hers. It's nice to have a "physical" friend go thru it all with me though.

Anyway... sorry for the tangent! LOL The first book is The Couples Guide to InVitro Fertilization - Everything you need to know to maximize your chances http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/073...Fencoding=UTF8 This is a super easy read, but gives you a run down from Pre-IVF to BFP to FET. She uses examples of people she's interviewed as well as her own success. I read it in about a week. I honestly couldn't put it down!! This is a must have for first time IVFers and even the vets!

The second one I read was IVF The Wayward Stork which is a very thin book and a quick rundown from start to finish. And the final one I'm reading is LaughInfertility. I just started this one, but it's on the lighter side of things and just helps you laugh at your situation to relieve some of the stress. So far it's pretty good, but I just started it last night

Anyway... just thought I'd share in the knowledge. I like to read and the wait is killing me, so this really helps me have some type of control over everything KWIM??

+++ thoughts!!

Bop I felt the same way with the BCPs. It actually took me a couple days to figure out it was from the pills. I also have been off for 3 years and it made me feel sick in the AM and whoo hoo welcome back headache. It's been almost two months now so it's much better.
Lyndsay thanks for the book suggestion, I like to read all I can on the subject so I'm sure I will add those to my list!

Well I had my first accupuncture apt yesterday. It went ok I guess. I wouldn't say it relaxed me though. I didn't know you have to lay there still for sooo long. I didn't care for that part. I had a little blood from the ones in my ear...is that normal? It also felt strange on my lower stomach. Not so much strange going in but then she wiggled it a bit and it felt like she was all the way in there. I asked her how far in and she said about an inch but it felt like more. The needles themselves I couldn't feel but then towards the end I was getting antsy and when you move around you feel them but no pain. So I have a session before and after transfer and I don't think I will be doing any extra apointments.

I start Lupron today....hip hip horray. I am soooooo looking forward to getting this show on the road!!

Mornin' Chickies,

How is everyone? I haven't been on for a few days so I have a little catching up to do.

Mimi--Oh sweetie, you have really been through the ringer this past week. I am so, so sorry you have had to live through that kind of hell. Thank God it wasn't another ectopic! Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lyndsay--Thanks for the book recommendations. I did read the Couple's Guide to InVitro and thought that was the best book I have ever read on the subject. It is very easy to understand and not too clinical. For my first IVF, I checked it out of the Library and kept referring to it. It was somewhat empowering to have some knowledge when I had so little control on everything else that was happening to me. I found it extremely helpful. I will have to look into your other recommendations as well.

Emily--Hope you get everything straightened out. I have never had to use estrace before so I don't know a lot about it. As for prometrium, I thought that kept AF away. Why did RE say he was prescribing these drugs for you? Don't worry....whether you cycle in April or May you are absolutely still a Chick!

Dawn--Glad to see you are back on board. I was wondering what happened to you last week and was hoping Grammy was still ok. Btw, I started BCP's yesterday if you want to update the list.

AMG & Bops--I am totally having the same symptoms minus the nausea. I have had a massive headache since yesterday morning. I went home from work last night and went to bed. I thought I would feel better today after a good nights sleep but I don't. Its either the BCP's, cutting out the coffee cold turkey or maybe a combo of both. Did I mention I am extremely *****y too? I so miss the carefree/drugfree days of last month already. All I can say is that THIS BETTER WORK THIS TIME!!!!!

Well, that's all for now....

Cya,
Lynne

Bops---Axe through the head....yes that it is a good analogy, however I have three axes...one across the forehead and one in each eye. You WOULD think it could be seen as much pain as it is causing, wouldn't you? My luck, everybody and their brother wants to stop at my desk and talk to me today. I am SOOOO NOT IN THE MOOD to CHIT CHAT!!! Would it be rude if I got a sign that says GO AWAY AND BITE ME WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!!! I am not a morning person and I feel like I have lived the last two days in morning hell! When will it end????

Yes, the coffee was pretty bad at the resort. I have yet to find a country where I like their coffee. I usually take my own and make it in the room if possible. Soooo, if you went decaf last week, your headache must be from the BCP's??? Shouldn't the caffeine be out of your system already?

Here's a question for all.....once you start the cycle, can you take aspirin, motrin, aleve, anything for a headache? In the past, I have just suffered through any aches/pains especially during Lupron. In fact, the headache I have now, feels like a Lupron headache. Boy, am I in trouble! I hope things get better before the 20th when I actually start the Lupron. Oh Joy...something to look forward to!

POLL: What type of bcp's are you on? I'm on something called Necon (I think) Are there some bcp's w/worst side effects than others?

Well, back to my misery....
Lynne

Boo Hiss Bcp

Lynne and Bops, feel better. I hope the BCP stop kicking your butt.

Dr. P feels that I need to do the 2 weeks of BCP and that means he'll probably miss my ER and/or my ET. So I'm a little lost as to how that happened, but if we don't do it that way, I'm out of luck until June because DH has a long-standing trade show in Dallas at the end of May when ER would be if we didn't start BCP until my April cycle.

So, I'm annoyed, but ok. I want everything to go well and if new Dr. says BCP are important after 3 cycles without them, shoot, let's give them a shot.

I guess I'll need to stock up on Tylenol though.

Emily

That is so cool! I wish I had the guts to actually hang it up.

No, Katz likes the drugs he likes and sticks to it. Is this going to be your protocol too.....Pre-Natal's (any kind), Necon, Lupron, Gonal-F, Menopur, Ovidrel, Doxycycline, baby aspirin, prometrium?

Hey Emily,

I'm so sorry to hear about your delay in starting. It really screws w/your mind, doesn't it? You get yourself so pumped to start and then have a set back. However, I think he is right about the BCP's. I have heard there is a better success rate when using the BCP's during a cycle rather than not using them. Hope that is some consolation!

Cya,
Lynne
