Hi All,
I am new to IVf. I have pcos.
Had 2 failed IUI and now into first IVF.Start Gonal f on friday.
I had my supression check today, after 2 weeks of Lupron, the nurse said the ultarsound looked great.
Obviously the follicles are ony 2mm at this stage, there were 17 on the left ovary and 25 on the right.
My question is: is that a good sign?
I have heard about overstimulation ,is that possible with that many follicles?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
thank you in advance

Jalene,
It's really too early to tell how those follies will develop. Some will take the lead and some will disappear all together. There definitely is a risk for OHSS, but that's why you are checked regularly. Your doctor will adjust your meds if he/she thinks you are over-stimulating. Good luck, and let us know how things progress! There is a ton of good advice/support from these women.

Hi Jalene
I had a total of 31 follicles near the end of my stims and all my doctor did was check my b/w regularly and he lowered my meds for a few days and I coasted for the last day before egg ret. I am at risk for OHSS too and I am showing mild signs now...bloating,abd. distension, nausea, and a feeling of always being full. I am on a Fluid restricted diet where I can only drink 1 litre of gatorade and 1 small can of V8 juice. I am missing reg. fluids like water but he says it helps the extra fluid in my body come out naturally while maintaining my electrolyte balance.
I am a little worried but my Doc is constantly watching out for it.
Try not to worry, I know it's a little scary but I am sure you are in good hands.

Hello and welcome! I had 33 eggs removed and unfortunately only about 10 were mature, and 7 fertilized. Other people on this board, like Gidget, had a ton of eggs and many were mature, so I guess it all depends on how your body responds. I hope yours makes lots of mature ones! I got mild OHSS and was very bloated, my ovaries were full and tender, and I had a day of throwing up before my ER. Just take it easy and don't overtax your body. Be a princess for a while! Good lucke with this cycle and let us know how the eggies are coming along.

Jalene,
If that many were to continue to grow, then you'd definitely be at risk for OHSS. Your clinic should monitor you pretty closely for that reason. As Jan said, they'll adjust your meds accordingly & you may have to go in more frequently, but that depends on how they grow.
Good luck! I hope you'll stick around & maybe even join us on the October Pumpkin Seeds group! It's a bunch of us that are cycling in the month of October!
Let us know how things go along the way, ok?!

With us PCOS gals, it really is hard to tell if we'll have OHSS. On both of my injectible cycles I had OHSS. The only thing they can do is keep a close eye on you. Good luck!

Last cycle I had borderline OHSS after I turned into a caviar factory mid cycle. This one, they slowed me way down, and still retrieved 30 eggs. I didn't hyperstimulate, but showed a few of the smaller, lighter symptoms. I'm sure your RE knows with those clusters of
's that you need to be monitored.
Your RE might have some dietary suggestions for you as well if ask him/her.
Good luck!
