Quinn Level 1
anyone know about homocystine levels?

Hi gals--- I haven't been very active since my IVF BFN here, but have been active on the FET board. I'm popping over to see if anyone might have insight on some recent lab that I just got back 2 seconds ago (my RE hasn't even seen this yet):

Ok, I'll be doing some more reading later, but am gonna go the lazy way first and ask around------- some of my lab work that we've been waiting on is filtering back and so far EVERYTHING is normal except the fasting homocysteine level is mildly high.

Anyone know what this means/indicates??

Call me crazy--but, I'm actually kind of glad to see SOMETHING come back abnormal. Geesh, if we can freaking fix something, maybe---just maybe--- I'll be a mommy??

My level is 11.2 umol/L normal limits = 3.3-10.4

again, not very "off" but it's something!!

Thanks for any input you might have! Good luck to you all!!!!!

Yes, Quinn, that's too high PLEASE run over to the immune issues bulletin board. The two issues you want to investigate ASAP are:

"inherited thrombophilia"
"acquired thrombophilia"

Please get your MTHFR gene tested for mutations, and also look for Factor V and Factor II mutations (different genes.) Please have a COMPLETE antiphospholipid antibody panel run (18 or 21 APA's, not just two).

You ARE on the right track. You WILL find answers this way. Your test result IS very significant.

Please see this web site http://www.repro-med.net/info/thromb.php and keep in mind that elevated homocysteine levels is a red flag for any and all of the conditions described here. Please have them all investigated. Ask any questions you have on the FT immune issues bulletin board or you can also join the Yahoo group for reproductive immunology:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/immunologysupport/

You can read the posts as a visitor but you'll need to sign up for a yahoo e-mail account in order to join and have access to the FABULOUS files.

It's overwhelming at first -- seriously, be prepared to be overwhelmed -- but incredibly helpful and informative once you start to wrap your mind around it all.

My two cents: a good doctor will have you on baby aspirin and Folgard, at the very LEAST.

Good luck to you!
Lauren
